About the program

This is an in-country hands-on internship program with provided shared housing and local team support.

Interns will have the opportunity to support the efforts for social awareness which relies on effective and engaging communication with the local community and beyond. Some of the tasks will involve photography and video editing, infographics development (posters, animations, scientific illustrations), writing articles and creating informative social media content. Interns can also assist with public campaigns, which can involve media management and communications assistance. This internship will mostly be office work; however, interns will have the opportunity to participate on-site surveys and in research efforts. The team is mostly trained or worked abroad in the UK or USA, eliminating any language barriers and offering international expertise.


Internships start on Mondays (with arrival on a Sunday) and interns have a choice to participate to a program between a minimum of 2 weeks or up to a maximum of 12 weeks.

With its 2,500 years of history and its 1,400 islands there is plenty to discover in Greece and it will satisfy the most demanding visitor. Greece is one of the warmest countries in Europe with long, hot & dry summers and mild winters. The popular time to visit Greece is between May to September end. Occasionally heatwaves may occur with temperatures peaking (1-2 days) around 105°F / 41°C.

A typical working week runs from Monday to Friday, with each day beginning at 9am and you should expect to end your shadowing each day at around 4-5pm depending on your workload.

In order to join the program you need to be at least 18 years old on the program start date. There might be exemptions if you can provide the permission of your legal guardian(s) or if your are accompanied by your parents.

Airport Pickup at Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport

The program fee includes a free airport pickup from the local Airport, on the Sunday before the Monday start date. To qualify for the free pickup interns are required to arrive between 9am-6pm. At the airport interns will be welcomed and transferred to the apartment. For interns arriving at an earlier date, an airport pickup (and bus station drop-off) maybe provided if requested and subject to availability.


Accommodation

The accommodation is fully furnished (single or double beds), with WiFi, shared with 1-5 other interns (Athens, Thessaloniki, Chania & Samos the apartments are shared with same-gendered interns, Florina has mixed-gender housing). The last night of the accommodation is the Friday night of the final week, leaving interns free to depart on Saturday. Extra nights of accommodation or private apartments can be arranged in advance, if requested and subject to availability.
