Spend some time with us and our amazing Marwari horses for a unique opportunity to be trained in natural horsemanship methods in the beautiful Indian countryside. This volunteer program is especially suitable for:

  • Get trained in some of the best natural horsemanship methods - we are advanced Monty Roberts students
  • Discover the Marwari, a native Indian horse breed you can't find anywhere else in the world
  • Go on hacks every day in the gorgeous countryside
  • Discover India off the beaten tracks
  • Learn what it takes to start your own horse business

Our volunteer programs offer the opportunity to learn about horses, their psychology and body language as well as the right way to work and communicate with them. The first part of the program will focus on teaching you the basics of natural horsemanship in theory and giving you the chance to implement it in practice with our horses who are all safe and trained. You will also observe us and how we work with untrained/rescued horses. Once you develop confidence and start to master the techniques you will also get the chance to work with other horses. Most of our methods are ground work but depending on the volunteer's abilities and confidence we will also go into riding. You will learn about the day to day runnings of a horse business and guest relations. Depending on your riding level you will get the chance to ride, go for hacks in the beautiful surroundings and even learn polo or other equestrian sports.

You will stay in a beautiful farmhouse where you have your own room with air conditioning, attached bathroom and additional office/living room so that you can have plenty of privacy. We have 5 rescued dogs as well as 3 rescued cats so you need to be comfortable with animals! They are very friendly and will give you plenty of purr/hug therapy!

Although we run our program throughout the year, note that the best period is from October to March only as it is very hot in April-May-June and very wet (because of the monsoon) in Jul-Aug-Sept.

Typical day

The day to day depends on how busy we are with guests and horse training. On some days you will accompany us to see clients at stud farms or other equestrian centres as well as rescue centres where we work to rehabilitate the horses.

If we stay at our farm, we start in the morning by cleaning the stalls and the horses as well as feeding them. We either do some ground work or riding, with the program depending on the need at the time.

After lunch is a rest period as we usually get up early. Mid-afternoon we go back to working with horses, do some more riding, possibly go for a hack or do some jumping, dressage etc. We usually use the spare time to do some theory sessions on horse psychology. We end the day by feeding the horses and chilling at the farm, enjoying the starry sky and enjoying farm cooked food.

If you can go on walks and treks and there are yoga centres should you also want to do that. If you want to take a day off to go visit Delhi, or the Taj Mahal, for example, we can help you organise that too.

Details on Arrival

We operate on a rolling basis so you can start whenever it suits you (depending on our availabilities of course). We will pick you up from Delhi airport.

Free-time activities

If you want to go anywhere we can call you a taxi or drop you in town or at the metro stations. There all sorts of activities that you typically find in big cities such as yoga, parks etc. You can also take a day to go and visit the Taj Mahal.
