About the program

1. Introduction

Our non-profit organization, VVCD, was founded in 2015 by Ms. Jenifer Xuan Nguyen with the help of international volunteers, after she worked on an orphanage and abandoned children project in Hanoi, Vietnam. Our goal is to help children born in unfortunate circumstances to grow up healthy and innocent, be integrated into society, and achieve success in their future lives.

2. Our goals and missions

Our mission is to promote voluntary work to nurture cultural exchange and friendship while caring for disadvantaged people. Our goal is to provide support for our local community and vulnerable children. VVCD has developed a reputation as an affordable volunteer travel leader in Vietnam. By working directly with local organizations in the country, where our programs are based, we keep our fees low and ensure they go towards meaningful community projects and local employment.

3. Who we are looking for:

We are looking for international volunteers who have a true passion for helping others, a compassion that only comes with sincere thought. We offer a reasonable price, full support, safety, and an unforgettable experience.

Our activities include caring, educating, health activities, community development, and more. We aim to improve the education and living conditions of people in difficult circumstances in Vietnamese society. International volunteers play a vital role in bringing new things to local people, exchanging culture, developing education, and changing negative habits and practices that adversely affect the health, knowledge, and skills development of the vulnerable.

4. Care placements and accommodations

We provide care placements for international volunteers in various locations around Hanoi, such as Bo De Pagoda, Phuc Tue Center, Thuy An Center, and Hanoi Friendship Village. All of these locations are surrounded by tourist spots and offer unique experiences. When working at an orphanage or a nursing home, volunteers must show initiative and enthusiasm to immerse themselves in the job and spend their time productively. The more help available, the better.

Volunteer accommodation provided by VVCD is based on the projects that the volunteers are interested in. We arrange accommodations that include options such as homestays, share houses, and hotels. If you have any special requirements, we will do our best to accommodate your needs. Please note that the cost of accommodation is at the volunteer's expense. VVCD is an NGO and we do not work for profit. We expect our volunteers to have compassion, sincerity, and a genuine desire to help others. In return, we aim to provide volunteers with valuable experiences during their placement. Therefore, we advise volunteers to prepare ideas and materials such as quizzes, coloring books, basic language books, children's books, sports equipment, and toys. Lastly, we believe that sharing love is the essence of our mission, and we hope that together we can make a positive impact on the world.

Meet your organization

Volunteer in Vietnam for Community Development (VVCD) volunteers don’t need to be qualified or have previous experience. The only qualities that our volunteers need to possess are compassion for fellow human beings and a desire to improve the lives of those with domestic or physical circumstances less fortunate than their own. Although work varies depending on the institution where the volunteer is placed, typical examples of jobs and tasks can include assisting local staff in providing rehabilitation exercises and therapeutic treatments to children; entertaining/educating them with games, music, arts and other exercises; helping to develop fundraising initiatives to ensure ongoing funding for these institutions; and teaching English to local staff.
