About the program

Discover Eco Hero Conservation in Nusa Penida, Bali!

Are you ready to dive into marine conservation and make a tangible impact? Welcome to Eco Hero Conservation, situated amidst the breathtaking landscapes of Nusa Penida, Bali, Indonesia. Our program is dedicated to marine research and conservation, training divers to safeguard and nurture our precious marine megafauna.

About Us: At Eco Hero Conservation, our mission is to equip divers with the skills and knowledge needed to champion marine conservation efforts. Nestled in the idyllic surroundings of Nusa Penida, Bali, our program center offers access to pristine beaches, crystalline turquoise waters, and a kaleidoscope of marine life. We envision a world where the intricate beauty of underwater ecosystems is cherished and protected for future generations.

The Importance of Coral Reefs: Coral reefs serve as vital ecosystems, providing sanctuary for a myriad of marine species and acting as natural barriers against coastal erosion and extreme weather events. However, these invaluable ecosystems face unprecedented threats from human activities such as overfishing, pollution, and climate change. Protecting coral reefs is paramount to sustaining marine biodiversity and safeguarding the livelihoods of coastal communities.

Our Conservation Approach: At Eco Hero Conservation, we advocate for a balanced approach to conservation that prioritizes minimal human intervention and the restoration of natural equilibrium. Our programs emphasize hands-on initiatives, including beach and reef cleanups, community outreach campaigns, and citizen science projects. Through our divemaster internships with specialized training in marine ecology, participants play an active role in data collection, coral propagation, and environmental education.

What We Offer:

  • Comprehensive divemaster training with a focus on marine ecology specialties
  • Opportunities to contribute to ongoing marine research projects
  • Hands-on experience in data collection, coral reef monitoring, and marine species identification
  • Engagement in community-driven conservation initiatives, including beach cleanups and environmental awareness programs
  • Support for local communities through educational outreach and English language instruction

Your Experience with Us: During your time at Eco Hero Conservation, you'll be immersed in a dynamic learning environment alongside experienced scientists and dedicated instructors. Our program provides state-of-the-art diving equipment, training materials, and certifications for divemaster and marine science specialties. Accommodation options offer panoramic views of the island's natural beauty, creating an inspiring backdrop for your conservation journey.

Who we are? (Your history & team)

We are a team of ocean scientist, ocean enthusiast, avid divers, and instructors on Nusa Penida island. Having seen so many impact on the pontoons we created Eco Hero. Gilang and Andriy started in 2022 right after covid and we are looking to train community about how to preserve and minimize impact on the ocean.

What we do?

We hosts people from all over the world and train them in the way of restoring damaged reef and identifying marine animals as well as science methodology and help communities especially high school students in learning ocean nature and taking care for them

Where we work?

We work in Nusa Penida island 45 minutes off of Bali. Very beautiful island filled with amazing coral reefs and marine animals. Completely safe and friendly people, infrastructure is quite well developed too in the way of internet and electricity.

Our mission/vision

We look forward to a world where people understands and respect Underwater life and continue to take good care of it.

Mission

Our headquarters is a center for marine research, conservation and education. We are committed to protecting and preserving the underwater world, from coral reefs to marine life and fascinating sharks, Nusa Penida provides a captivating backdrop for our efforts. Join us as we explore the Nusa Penida Marine Park and work towards a sustainable future for our oceans.

Our goals

Our goal is set yearly and every year we have to be able to restore 500 sqm of coral reefs, collect data and upload on the server and publish a science paper.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for people from all walks of life who are interested in ocean ecosystem and be willing to make an impact on the localized marine environment

Why choose us?

We are local team since our young life we have been running ocean activities and live near the ocean. We have the local wisdom and the ability to approach local communities in making a change together. Our project is designed to be able to do all this while it is purely non profit and affordable.
