This program is designed to make the most out of education that is tailored to individuals with special needs. Volunteers in this program will be assisting and helping in the education of people with various mental and physical disabilities. The age range varies from teenagers to adults.
With this program, we aim to support institutions, either private or state-owned, that aid in the care and development of individuals that are mentally or physically handicapped. Volunteers joining the special needs education program will be working alongside staff to maximize the opportunities for development of people in the project.
As a volunteer, you will be helping to teach basic skills like handicrafts, basic home education, music, educational games, and workshops. You will also be helping staff to organize the project and to cook.
Volunteers working in this program should be resourceful, patient and have a very happy disposition. People with backgrounds in psychology, therapy, and education are encouraged to apply to special needs program.
Normally you will work from monday to thursday between 8 and 4 o' clock. You will have lunch break, and breaks to rest.
-Teaching various classes such as handicrafts, painting, and reading.
-Helping feed students.
-Assisting students and staff.
-Helping to create educational material.
-Helping to plan classes.
Arenal Volcano and wonder at a massive volcano and surrounding verdant rainforest, and then the next day you might find yourself only a few hours away relaxing on Papagayo’s white sand beaches, watching the kids stand-up paddleboard, or kayaking among the mangrove jungles of Tortuguero.
