About the program

Peru is home to a large number of stray dogs and cats. The sad reality is that many of these animals are homeless and suffer from hunger and illnes and are reproductive. The stray dog overpopulation is a growing problem in Peru as free-roaming dogs (these are dogs with owners that are often left to their own devices) roam freely throughout the day mating with the homeless strays and increasing the number of strays on the streets of Peru.

The Location

Our farm is located in the countryside of the north coast of Peru. A 1 hour drive by bus from the city of Chiclayo. There are buses every 10 minutes to get from our village to the city, where you are able to get almost everything you need. Our village is a 5 minutes walk from the farm. In our village there are several shops, small supermarket, many restaurants, a bar, several farmacies, bakery and nice park and a beautiful church. It is surrounded by nature.

What we do

We rescue the injured and mistreated stray dogs and cats for rehabilitation and take care of them at our farm. So they can be put up for adoption. We have them sterilised and try to find a new home for them. Our rescued horses were mistreated and exploited by their former owner. They had to work hard and were hardly given any food. We were able to buy them from this person and the butchers and are making sure that they regain their strength, gain weight and can live a happy life on our farm.
