Work in Ghana to provide impoverished, orphaned and street children in one of partner schools (Any subject of your preferred choice).

This volunteer program is especially suitable for:
Age 18+
Singles
Couples
Families
Groups
50+

If you are interested in the education sector you could work as assistant teacher at one of our partner schools. You will be able to teach any of the classes and any subject, so it would be good if you could indicate your preference when applying so that you can be allocated to something that interests you most. To become a volunteer teacher you do not need to be a professional teacher and will have no problem teaching if you have just finished secondary school. The children are all very excited and curious. They want to find out more about the volunteer and their home country. By providing them with an overview of life at home, you are expanding their world awareness. In addition, volunteers reaffirm the value of education and motivate the students to concentrate on it. In addition, volunteers are a great assistance to the teachers that often have to teach the students for many different subjects and for the entire day. They can also share their teaching ideas with the teachers and show them how schools are run elsewhere.

Typical day

Wake up around 7.00 am, bath, breakfast. Start work at 8.00 am in assigned institution. Work as your schedule provides. Lunch at around 12 noon at the workplace or a nearby restaurant. Return to work until 3.00 pm.
The number of working hours ranges from 3 to 4 hours per day; (optional) though the schedule is flexible to suit the volunteer. After working hours, the volunteer plans how he/she uses the remainder of the day. The volunteer can help with other community projects, including first aid training, planning health programs , or sports, games with the school children, or just relax and enjoy some free time. At about 6.00 pm supper is served, warm friendship from colleagues at work and town folk to keep you company and show you around and immerse into Ghanaian culture. Ghanaian's are renowned for their friendliness and hospitality.

The volunteer may also wish to spend their free time with other international volunteers in the area.
Weekends are for your free time. We will be more than happy to show you around the local area or visit places such as the beach, the capital city, Cape Coast Castle, National Park etc. You may also wish to travel independently or with other volunteers to different parts of Ghana or other neighboring countries.
