We are working with Miwani Primary School, in Ganda, with over 240 children with only 9 teachers. The infrastructure is semi permanent and being a community school. It sits in the middle of a village which mainly relies on subsistence farming and casual jobs.
8.00 classes begin
Free-time activities are not limited tot he above. They also include home visiting the students where they live to see their lifestyle and also meet their parents.
Malindi being a coastal town attracts tourists from all over the world who enjoy water sports along the sea. Therefore, because of this, most water sporting activities can be costly and it is thus advisable to also refer to the Coordinator whenever the volunteer wants to do such sports in order to access them at a good price.
Despite the above fact, there are also public beaches for swimming and basking which are free of charge.
Over the weekend, the volunteer can also visit Mombasa city which is 2 hours away using public transport.
