Typical day

The diversity in hygiene and health practices within the community necessitates the presence of qualified professionals who can conduct health camps and dental checkups. Additionally, we seek participants who can educate community members on essential first-aid techniques and promote simple hygiene practices such as handwashing, teeth brushing, and overall cleanliness. These efforts are vital in preventing avoidable health issues and the spread of communicable diseases.

Whether you have a background in medicine or a keen interest in education and hygiene, we invite you to join our newly established Healthcare project. While medical professionals who can provide guidance on project development are highly valued, prior medical experience is not a requirement for participation. As a project participant, you will actively engage in healthcare campaigns conducted in local schools and the Aborlan community. Your role will involve teaching the importance of basic hygiene, emphasizing correct teeth brushing techniques, proper handwashing, and maintaining overall cleanliness. Moreover, you will have the opportunity to collaborate closely with local medical officers and health clinic doctors, enriching your experience and adding tremendous value to the project.

Join us in this impactful initiative, where you can contribute to the well-being of the community, foster awareness about healthcare practices, and gain valuable insights while working alongside dedicated medical professionals and educators.

Accommodation

This center houses all participants in their programs around Palawan. It is built with many natural elements and has a tropical beach look to them! You’ll be sleeping on bunk beds and we have limited laundry facilities, so expect to wash your clothes by hand, unless you’d like to use the laundry service here for a small fee.

Due to our tropical setting, WiFi  service may not be what you are used to at home. It is limited and sometimes inaccessible due to weather, so having your own local SIM card and purchasing data through the GLOBE network may be your best option for staying connected consistently while you are in our local village. Please be advised that due to jellyfish in the water, it is unlikely that you will be able to swim at the beach close by the accommodation. There is an area near the river or on the other side of the village, which is about a 15 minute walk away, where you will be able to enjoy some time in the water.

Food & Beverages

Three meals are provided every day of the program scheduled at 8:00 a.m..for Breakfast, 12:00pm for Lunch and 6:00 pm for Dinner and on weekends only brunch and dinner. Food will be mainly of typical local and western dishes. Since we are in Asia, rice is a staple. We serve rice but not everyday. We also serve pasta, noodles, sea foods, most of the time chicken and pork, vegetables and fruits. For breakfast, we may have eggs, sausages, oatmeal, bread, pancakes, coffee and tea. However, meals will also be served based on your dietary requirements.

In addition, food arrangement varies based on your program. Typically, Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner will usually serve at the Accommodation Center. However, for participants having outdoor activities or placement will have packed lunch or take lunch at the local restaurants or at the Filipino Authentic Restaurants nearby. Finally, you are free to relax and explore the local area and local dishes during your spare time or on the weekends but at your own cost and expense.

About the project

We believe real change can happen when people find life-enhancing opportunities.

Who we are

Global Nomadic empowers positive change by connecting people with projects

Global Nomadic was founded in 2008 with one clear goal – to empower change by connecting people. We believe real change can only come about when people are able to find the right opportunities with the right organisations. Over the past years, we have grown to offer high-quality international internships in a wide range of professional fields, but our aim is still the same; connecting people with projects.

We provide aspiring young professionals with exactly what is needed to set them apart in the very competitive world we live in. We exist to help you further your career through educational international work experience placements, but also to help NGOs around the world carry out their community-building work, by connecting them with you. By working with local NGOs, charities, and communities you will gain excellent experience and valuable skills, aiding you to further your ambitions – whilst making a difference where it’s needed most.

This world is not a perfect place – and we don’t claim to be able to fix it. But what we can do is provide a bridge between you and the people who can. Our mission is to work towards a better and more stable world by connecting people with projects. We believe we work better together than apart. We believe travel and exposure to other cultures, beliefs and ways of life are the best ways to achieve this. We believe you can travel the world and travel your career.

What we do

We provide access to vetted, worthwhile international internships in a wide range of professional fields.

We work in a range of different fields from veterinary medicine and environmental conservation to journalism, public health, business development and education – matching you with reputable, worthwhile organisations around the world. Unlike many other volunteer organisations, we have personally visited and vetted our project partners, to ensure you a safe and worthwhile international experience.

We also choose to only work with partners whose projects contribute to their local community in a sustainable manner. We do not support, nor advocate orphanage tourism or irresponsible wildlife conservation projects. Our aim is to help our project partners focus on their core work by offering an easy way to find committed interns and volunteers to support their daily activities.

Our volunteers

Global Nomadic is a trusted community meeting space connecting people with NGO projects around the world.

We also offer helping you to source and organise the best flights, insurance, visas and all the many other things you will need before you reach your project destinations, including country guides, packing lists and much more! We want to make sure that you have the volunteering time of your life.

Global Nomadic personally visits all volunteer sites to ensure a quality experience for volunteers. You will receive support before, during and after your placement.
