Working alongside experienced professionals in nonprofit organizations, you will learn how multidisciplinary teams support individuals, families, and communities, while developing your observational, communication, and reflective skills.

    Available in Athens and Thessaloniki, the program offers a range of experiences depending on your chosen location and area of interest.

    This internship offers psychology students and graduates the chance to:

    • Observe and Learn: Gain insight into mental health services, community-based psychology groups, and psychosocial support through placements with experienced professionals.

    What to Expect

    Participants gain insight into the daily work of psychology-focused nonprofit organizations, developing their observational, interpersonal, and reflective skills. Depending on the selected location and area of interest, key experiences may include:

    • Observing support for people with mental health difficulties and learning difficulties.
    • Supporting and observing community-based psychology groups focused on emotional expression, self-awareness, communication, and social inclusion.
    • Exploring prevention and management of delinquency among adolescents and young people aged 13 to 30.
    • Learning about women’s empowerment through psychosocial support, counselling, skills training, and networking with agencies, businesses, and public institutions.
    • Exploring psychosocial support for employees experiencing workplace difficulties and unemployed people seeking work.
    • Learning about counselling and psychosocial support for children and parents, including speech therapy where available.
    • Supporting appropriate educational, community outreach, research, and documentation activities, including reflective writing.

Depending on your chosen focus, you may gain insight into mental health services, group dynamics, social inclusion, youth support, women's empowerment, or psychosocial support for children, families, and adults.     We will review your application and if we accept you on this internship we will ask you to pay a non-refundable deposit to secure your place. The remaining of your internship fees (less your initial deposit payment) will be due no less than 30 days before your internship start date. 
    Prior to your arrival you will also be asked to pay a $400 security deposit to cover potential damages, to the apartments and host sites, which is fully refunded after check-out within 30 days if everything is in order.

    Internships start on Mondays and interns have a choice to participate to a program between a minimum of 2 weeks or up to a maximum of 12 weeks.

    The program fee includes a free airport pickup on the Sunday before the Monday start date. To qualify for the free pickup interns are required to arrive between 9am-6pm. At the airport interns will be welcomed and transferred to their housing. For interns arriving at an earlier date, a pickup maybe provided if requested and subject to availability.

    Adequate information about the city and hosting institution will be sent before arrival. It includes information about the city, local culture, rules, emergency contact numbers and the local team.

    Alojamiento

    The accommodation is fully furnished (single or double beds), with WiFi, shared with 1-6 other same-sex interns, and located in safe areas with easy access to public transport and close to the internship site. The last night of the accommodation is the Friday night of the final week, leaving interns free to depart on Saturday. Private apartments can be arranged in advance, if requested and subject to availability.
