    Sobre el programa

Nestled on the edge of the world-renowned Chitwan National Park in Sauraha, this program offers a unique opportunity to live where the wild meets the community. As a volunteer, you won't just be a visitor; you will become a vital link in the chain of conservation.  In Sauraha, the struggle for co-existence is real, as majestic rhinos and elephants often wander near the village borders. Your role is to support the local community—specifically the younger generation—in understanding the importance of protecting these incredible creatures and their habitat.

Your daily life will revolve around Environmental Education. You will spend your mornings in local schools, leading creative workshops and English lessons focused on ecology, sustainability, and biodiversity. By teaching children about the value of the "Giants" in their backyard, you are helping to prevent future human-wildlife conflict. This is grassroots conservation at its most effective—changing mindsets to ensure a peaceful future for both people and animals.

When you aren't in the classroom, you are immersed in the vibrant Tharu culture. You will live in the heart of Sauraha, where the rhythm of life is dictated by nature. You can spend your afternoons observing crocodiles along the Rapti River or watching for the silhouette of a rhino emerging from the tall grass at dusk. This program is perfect for those who want to experience wildlife in its truest, wildest form without the ethical concerns of direct handling. You are there to observe, advocate, and educate.

By joining us, you contribute to a sustainable model of tourism and conservation. You provide the local community with the tools they need to thrive alongside the park, ensuring that the wildlife of Chitwan remains protected for generations to come. If you are passionate about education, community development, and witnessing nature’s wonders from a respectful distance, this journey in Sauraha is for you.

07:30 AM – Morning Wildlife Greeting Start your day with breakfast at your homestay or local guest house. It’s not uncommon to hear the sounds of the jungle waking up. You might take a quick walk to the banks of the Rapti River to see the morning mist rising and catch a glimpse of gharial crocodiles basking in the early sun.

09:30 AM – Classroom Preparation Head over to the local school or community center. You’ll spend some time organizing your teaching materials, focusing on your "Nature Advocate" curriculum—perhaps preparing a lesson on why rhinos are important to the ecosystem or creating a fun recycling project with the students.

10:30 AM – Impact Hours: Teaching & Advocacy This is where the magic happens. You’ll lead interactive sessions with local students. Instead of just lecturing, you’ll use games, art, and storytelling to inspire a love for the environment. Your presence helps students improve their English while they learn to see their wild neighbors (the elephants and rhinos) as treasures to be protected.

01:00 PM – Local Nepali Lunch Enjoy a traditional Dal Bhat (lentil soup, rice, and vegetable curry) with your host family or fellow volunteers. This is a great time to rest during the heat of the day and chat with the locals about any wildlife sightings from the night before.

03:00 PM – Community Engagement & Observation Afternoons are flexible. You might lead an after-school nature club, help a local family with their garden, or simply walk through the village. Because you are living on the "Wildlife Frontier," keep your camera ready—it’s quite common to see a rhino wandering near the village outskirts or an elephant being led to the river.

05:30 PM – Sunset at the Riverbank Join the community at the river’s edge. This is the social heart of Sauraha. As the sun sets over Chitwan National Park, you can reflect on your day’s work while watching birds return to their nests and looking out for wildlife emerging from the forest for a drink.

07:30 PM – Dinner & Cultural Exchange Share a meal and stories with your hosts. You might learn a few words of the Tharu language or discuss local conservation challenges, gaining a deep understanding of what it really takes to live in harmony with nature.
