French serves as
a second language in many educated echelons within Morocco, and while it is
considered an unofficial third language after Modern Standard Arabic and Berber
(Amazigh), it is the primary language of commerce and economics in Morocco. In
order for young Moroccans to acquire marketable skills and integrate well into
the job market, they need to have a strong grasp of the French language.French is widely spoken and written in many spheres of life, namely in
banking and in private sectors in general.
On the Teaching French project, you will work with children, teenagers,
and adults, providing teaching in French. Your tasks will include running
language classes, tutoring for school exams, provide support to local teachers
or team up with other volunteers/interns in traditional classrooms, assisting
with homework and organizing educational games and activities. You can also
assist in summer camps, during the school holidays.
You will need to be fluent in oral and written French. As you will work
with our support and placement staff, you do not need to be a qualified or
experienced teacher to teach French.
