You love children and you enjoy working with them? Then you are a perfect fit for our projects in Costa Rica.
There
is a huge difference between our school system in Europe and the school
system in Costa Rica. It is quite common that Kindergarten and School
are close to each other and sometimes they are even in the same
building. Therefore you are going to have a variety in your operating
range. Depending
on your English level you will be placed with younger or older kids.
Volunteers will asist the local stuff in all areas as you can see below.
Speaking
English and other languages like Frensh is getting more and more important due to rising tourist
numbers. Your job is going to be as a consultant for the english
teachers in the schools you are going to support them in their subject
and if you are very confident with the language and you show dedication
you can also support other teachers in other subjects. Create small
exercises for you students, make them smile while their learning and
think of appreciation in the children’s eyes.
How you can help:
- Helping to teach children
- Attending to and interacting with the children
- Creating activities and entertaining the children with games and songs
- Teaching basic English, hygiene and spirtual values
- helping with kitchen and other duties
In this project we are looking for teacher and prospective teachers.
Typical day
Every day is special! By working with kinds every day is special and different. We would like to help you to get an overview about a tipical day volunteer day:
07.30/08.00: tipical breakfast with your host family
after walking your project
09.00: starting your volunteering
1.00 pm: ending volunteering
afternoon:
hanging out with other volunteers, duing acivities such as going to the
cinema, going to swimming pools or just go in town.
Depending of grade you will have at the afternoons volunteer duties.
Free time & weekends: discover Costa Rica.
Costa Rica is a greate place to discover. You can see a lot of nature, animales, beaches,... enjoying your Pura Vida life.
Free-time activities
During your freetime you can go to the beach. You can enjoy
activities like hiking, climbing, trekking, horseback riding, relaxing
on the beach, etc. Costa Rica do have great surf spots. Water sport
activities are a lot around the project.
Close to
the beach people sell souvenirs, other cities like Manuel Antonio or
Domical are close. As well you can do tours to waterfalls, which are
close to your stay. One is in town, the other close to Dominical. We can
reccommend to do the tour on your own, as it is easy to get their.

In order to join the program you need to be at least 18 years old on the program start date. There might be exemptions if you can provide the permission of your legal guardian(s) or if your are accompanied by your parents.
You need to speak English (fluently)
or Spanish (basic level)

Our team will pick you up at San Jose Airport. We can organize the pick up from the airport till 11.30 am. Our driver will bring you to the bus station in San Jose. The bus will take about 3,5 to 4 hours to your final destination. If you are coming later our driver do offer a add on package with one day overnight at a host family close to the airport.
You will be in a volunteer house. Rooms are very well
equipped and you will have dorm and double room. You will share bathroom with other volunteers. Our traveler recommend the accommodation to 100%. The accommodation is about 10-15 minutes by bisicial from the project.

Good access at the project site
Visa, flights, travel insurance or vaccinations are NOT included in the program fees.
The nearest airport is Juan Santamaria International Airport (SJO) in San Jose. We assist you to find cheap flights to Costa Rica.
Going abroad is an adventure and it is always best to be prepared. Sudden illness or injury, cancellation or theft - a travel insurance for Costa Rica provides security and is a plus to have.
If you are intending to volunteer in Costa Rica you should seek medical advice before starting your social journey. Check your required vaccinations for Costa Rica.

Details on arrival
Our team will pick you up at San Jose Airport. You will stay close to
the airport in Santa Barbara for one night in a volunteer house and go
on next day to your volunteer location. The bus will take about 3,5 to 4
hours.
