During the week, volunteers and a Volunteer Vietnam team member will teach approximately 16 hours per week. This involves teaching at two kindergarten schools and teaching English classes to social workers and horticulture students at the Social Support Center. When you are not working in the teaching program, you will be helping out with the other programs, such as the physiotherapy program and care program.
Volunteers are given a weekly schedule of their teaching times and activities. Volunteers will have a meeting each day with a team member to plan for the next day’s activities and to make lesson plans for teaching. Volunteer Vietnam has many teaching resources on site to help with your lesson planning. If you have experience in teaching, the Volunteer Vietnam team is always eager to hear your ideas. If you have no experience in teaching, the Volunteer Vietnam team will show you how to write a lesson plan. You are always accompanied by a team member in the classroom; you are never left alone to teach a class!
Typical day
The day starts at 7.30 am with breakfast at the volunteer house. At 8 am you will travel to your work place by car, driven by a Volunteer Vietnam team member. You work from 8:30 am to 11:30 am. You return to the volunteer house for lunch around 12 am. Your lunch time is from 12am to 1:30 pm. This time is your free time to do whatever you like. At 1:30pm you will travel to your work place and finish at 4:30 pm. Dinner is served at the volunteer house at 5 pm. In the evening your time is free. Some options are going out for coffee, going downtown, or getting a massage.The volunteer's weekly work schedule is approximately 6 hours per day from Monday to Thursday and 3 hours on Friday.
Free-time activities
In Danang you can visit the night market to see and eat the local food, take a tour of the city or visit the surrounding local cultural sites, such as Marble Mountain, Linh Ung Pagoda, Ba Na Hills, or the beach. For a weekend trip, visit Hoi An where you can explore this Heritage Site or Hue to see the Forbidden City.

In order to join the program you need to be at least 18 years old on the program start date. There might be exemptions if you can provide the permission of your legal guardian(s) or if your are accompanied by your parents.
You need to speak English (basic level)
English teaching, Arts, physical education, health science, etc.. We welcome people with other majors as well at University or College level
Once a volunteer has confirmed their placement, we will send you our application form in word version and you need to fill in the form and send to us by email together with a copy of your passport. We will arrange a visa approval letter based on the documents.
No restrictions. Helping hands from all over the world are welcome.
Any skills that are suitable for educating young children aged from 3 to 11 years old and building their knowledge about the surrounding world and making them feel confident about their future.

The program fees include:
- Placement arrangement which includes a volunteer permit and visa approval letter
- Pick up on arrival, two day training program
- 24/7 support staff team during the whole stay
- Accommodation, meals and transport to work
- Sightseeing tours in the city
- Transport back to the airport when finished
- Volunteers are expected to arrive at Da Nang International Airport ( DAD) . The airport is 05km from the volunteer house
- Our staff will pick you up on your arrival. They are easily recognized while holding " Welcome to Volunteer Vietnam"
- We drive you to the volunteer house by the volunteer car and it takes only 15 minutes.
We accommodate volunteers in a volunteer house called Green House. The house is 04 km from the city center. The house is very comfortable to live with modern facilities such as 05 bedrooms that can sleep 20 volunteers, roof top relaxing area, outdoor relaxing area, big dinning room, kitchen, TV lounge, computer desk with 04 computers and printer. The bedrooms are equipped with western toilets and showers, bunkbeds with soft mattress, pillows, blankets, AC. It is place for volunteers to live but also relax or do homework or school assignment.
Volunteers are provided 03 meals per day from Monday to Friday plus breakfast on Saturday morning by our cook Mrs. Hai. You’ll have a chance to enjoy both Western and Vietnamese cuisines in the volunteer house kitchen. You should budget for all other meals during the weekend. We will recommend some local restaurants near the Green House where they serve Vietnamese food which is delicious.
Good access at the project site
Visa, flights, travel insurance or vaccinations are NOT included in the program fees.
The nearest airport is Da Nang International Airport (DAD) in Da Nang. We assist you to find cheap flights to Vietnam.
Going abroad is an adventure and it is always best to be prepared. Sudden illness or injury, cancellation or theft - a travel insurance for Vietnam provides security and is a plus to have.
If you are intending to volunteer in Vietnam you should seek medical advice before starting your social journey. Check your required vaccinations for Vietnam.
