Profile of the women in the group
In the Psycho-Social Intervention procedure, two forms of
Access to the Women's Program: external referral from private or public social entities, or on their own initiative. In both cases, in the initial reception and reception phase, the social interview with the social worker is contemplated as an essential step, in order to prepare an individual social diagnosis and an intervention proposal, as well as verify that the woman is in some of these situations:
- Women in a situation of risk or social exclusion.
- Long-term unemployed women.
- Unemployed women with a low level of employability, due to low educational level, no professional qualification and/or low level of language proficiency.
- Single mother families.
- Women with great emotional and affective deficiencies, without support networks.
- Women victims of gender violence.
Typical day
Schedule from Monday to Friday
The women's group meets twice a week permanently. Specific days may vary depending on activities. The other days the volunteers who are in the project support the teaching project in houses where we also work with women in a personalized way. They can also propose workshops focused on personal growth, self-esteem and learning in general.
The hours that are attended are from 10:00 am to 11:30 am and from 2:30 am to 5:00 pm This may vary according to the months and activities
Activities
The Women's Program runs from March to December.
- The programming of the workshops and activities is directly linked to the achievement of our specific objectives, with each activity having an impact on one of them and providing our women with tools to overcome the risk situation or its non-chronification.
- The workshops and courses of personal development, pre-employment training and job orientation are developed in groups.

Creative sewing workshop
This workshop has been changing its main objective depending on the needs.
Today, the aim is to train women when it comes to operating sewing machines and making basic repairs, but this workshop is mainly understood as a space for cohesion and meeting between all women.

Jewelry workshop
This workshop seeks to benefit all the women served. It is a training and integrating space, where our women learn, coexist and create pieces such as bracelets and necklaces where they impregnate their emotions, sensitivity, skills and artistic aptitudes.
The elaborated pieces are sold in different spaces (markets, fairs) where a group of women users accompanied by a person in charge participate in the sale and commercialization of the product. All the economic benefits obtained are distributed among the participants (women), depending on their attendance, commitment and aptitude.
Socio-sanitary workshop
- Prevent unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases.
- Develop good mother-child practices.
- Promote women's autonomy.
- Regarding activities related to women, three blocks are carried out:
- 1. BLOCK: activities related to knowledge of sexually transmitted diseases, as well as the prevention of unwanted pregnancies.
- 2. BLOCK: activities related to women and we will give away those that promote autonomy, empowerment and socio-labour insertion.
- 3. BLOCK: activities specifically related to maternal and child health.
Depending on the number of volunteers we will divide into groups. Since we seek that the workshops, activities and school support are a way to learn, share, depend and get out of the routine. Therefore, it is important that all volunteers who are part of the project bring an ACTIVITY OR WORKSHOP PROPOSAL.
This proposal can be related to your profession, your talents, hobbit or sewing, art, yoga, garden, recycling, self-knowledge and early stimulation.
Regarding the workshops or activity that we propose in the form that we send to the volunteer, he must indicate:
- A workshop or activity proposal
- Ages to whom it is focused
- Materials, since you will be the one to direct the activity.

San Blas Islands
Considered the most beautiful islands in all of Latin America. Visitors choose them for their crystal clear waters and white sand. These islands are 3 hours from Panama City.
Bocas del Toro
It is very close to the Costa Rican border. On its beaches you can regularly go surfing, snorkelling, scuba diving, enjoy the sun and the nightlife among many other activities.
Santa Catalina-Santiago Beach
It is a small coastal town, during the day you can go to the beach and go surfing. You can also book an excursion to Coiba Island.
Portobello and Mamey Island-Colón
This beautiful and historic place located in the Caribbean area can be visited in a weekend.

In order to join the program you need to be at least 18 years old on the program start date. There might be exemptions if you can provide the permission of your legal guardian(s) or if your are accompanied by your parents.
You need to speak Spanish (intermediate level)

Servizi inclusi
Volunteers are provided with the following:
- Accommodation in a volunteer house with other volunteers.
- 3 meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) from Monday to Thursday. On weekends, Thursdays and Fridays you can use the kitchen.
- Orientation day in the village to adapt to the area (Mondays).
- Support from the team from Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 16:00 in the afternoon.
- Weekly follow-up and evaluation meeting.
- Certificate of participation at the request of the volunteer.
The house where we live is simple, it is in the center of town, humble but with everything necessary and comfortable. There is a good coexistence with the people of the town and respect for the culture and customs of the country.
● We have 3 rooms with fans:
○ 6-bed room (bunk beds)
○ 5-bed room (bunk beds and single)
○ 4-bed room (bunk beds)
● We have two bathroom areas: There is no hot water
● Kitchen for common use
● Drinking water
● Room (rest area)
● Garden and Yoga and relaxation area (summer 2023)
● Laundry area: Use of washer and dryer at low cost $10 (only on Mondays and Thursdays)
Order and cleanliness of the house
As we are usually 15 people in the house (mainly the summer months in Europe) and so that coexistence is more harmonious and orderly we do various daily tasks in which the volunteers support. You will find this organizational plan on the general information board weekly. In this way, we take care of the space, respect coexistence and create a moment to share and get to know each other better.
- All 3 meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) are provided from Monday to Thursday.
- On weekends, Thursdays and Fridays you can use the kitchen.
- Breakfast is self-service and is usually available: Bread, crackers, jams, butter, cereals, pancake toppings, eggs and fruit twice a week
- Lunch and dinner are provided only at the volunteer's home
- It is not possible to order take-away.
- Drinks are not included (water, sodas, others).
- The water in Panama is drinkable so for the moment you can drink tap water. If a volunteer wishes to buy bottled water, he/she can do so.
Good access at the project site
Visa, flights, travel insurance or vaccinations are NOT included in the program fees.
An airport pickup isn't included within the program fees either.
The nearest airport is Tocumen International Airport (PTY) in Panama City. We assist you to find cheap flights to Panama.
Going abroad is an adventure and it is always best to be prepared. Sudden illness or injury, cancellation or theft - a travel insurance for Panama provides security and is a plus to have.
If you are intending to volunteer in Panama you should seek medical advice before starting your social journey. Check your required vaccinations for Panama.
