Our volunteer program in Zanzibar, plays a vital role in addressing social issues related to early childhood education and development in low-income communities. Many families in the area struggle to access quality education for their children, leading to limited opportunities for their future. Our program aims to bridge this gap by providing nurturing childcare and quality education in a safe and supportive environment. By volunteering with us, you'll directly contribute to improving the lives of children and fostering positive change in the community.

Our program focuses on childcare and teaching at a local pre-primary schools in Zanzibar. Volunteers work alongside local educators to support the physical, cognitive, and emotional development of children from low-income families. Your role as a volunteer involves engaging with children through various activities, assisting with literacy and math lessons, and promoting play-based learning for effective education.

Surroundings and Locations: Volunteers will be working and living in the picturesque coastal village of Paje, surrounded by stunning beaches and vibrant local culture. The pre-primary school where volunteers will be placed is conveniently located within walking distance from the hostel accommodation, providing easy access to both work and leisure activities. The schools we work with are in walking distance, but for some, it may be necessary to take a transport using a local dala dala, which is very inexpensive (0.20 cents per ride).

Working Partners: Volunteers will work closely with local educators and staff at the pre-primary school, collaborating to provide quality education and care for the children. Our team provides guidance and support to volunteers throughout their placement, ensuring a rewarding and fulfilling experience. Our focus as an organization is through capacity building. We aim to improve the standard of education through sharing skills, knowledge and ideas, rather than giving physical items or resources that is unsustainable and non-beneficial long term. 

Expectations and Equipment: We expect volunteers to bring a compassionate attitude and a willingness to engage with children from diverse backgrounds. No special equipment is required, as we provide all necessary materials for the tasks at hand. Volunteers can expect comprehensive training, guidance, and support from our team, along with opportunities for personal and professional growth.
