This is an in-country shadowing program with provided shared housing and local team support.
This program is important as it offers pre-nurse, pre-health & graduates students
the opportunity to gain top quality experience interning in the medical
field. Interns will get to see the health care differences between countries, get to see all medical specialties that a hospital can offer and decide on their future career path. With valuable experience, interns will develop their skills and
understanding of different medical professions.
Interns will have the opportunity to
observe medical procedures side-by-side doctors, surgeons, nurses and
other staff and participate in the daily routine, across various
departments and specialties. The shadowing program is designed to rotate
through all major departments and can be customized according to the
intern’s area of medical interest. The medical team is mostly trained or
worked abroad in the UK or USA, eliminating any language barriers and
offering international expertise.
Department Rotation:
Anesthesiology, Cardiology, Dialysis, Emergency Room, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, General Surgery, Hematopathology, Intensive Care Unit, Nuclear Medicine, Orofacial Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Oncology, Pneumology, Radiology
Dagelijkse activiteiten
At the start of each week a shadowing schedule is drafted between you
and the coordinating doctor to rotate through all major departments.
Your day will begin at 9am following your shadowing schedule and see clinics,
surgeries and diagnostics with the medical staff explaining everything
in English. Expect to finish around 4-5pm depending on surgery duration or clinic rotations.
Vrijetijdsactiviteiten
The placement takes place inside the vibrant city of Athens where many cultural events and activities take place. You have the chance to explore the historical sites of Athens or swim in the beaches around it. During your weekends you can travel to near by cities, towns or take the ferry to one of the hundreds of picturesque islands.

Om deel te nemen aan het programma dien je tenminste 18 jaar oud te zijn op de startdatum van het programma. Er kunnen uitzonderingen gemaakt worden indien je een bewijs van toestemming kan aantonen van uw wettelijke voogd(en) of samen met je ouders deelneemt.
Je dient over volgende taalkennis te beschikken Engels (vloeiend)
At least one year of undergraduate study completed, with a relevant scientific major such as biology, chemistry, neuroscience, behavioral sciences, physics etc. . op College niveau
CV, Passport copy, Profile Photo, Criminal Background Check en Vaccination Certificate

We will review your application and if we accept you on this internship we will ask you to pay a non-refundable deposit to secure your place. The remaining of your internship fees (less your initial deposit payment) will be due no less than 30 days before your internship start date.
Internships start on Mondays and interns have a choice to participate to a program between a minimum of 2 weeks or up to a maximum of 24 weeks .
The program fee includes a free airport pickup on the Sunday before the Monday start date. To qualify for the free pickup interns are required to arrive between 9am-6pm.At the airport interns will be welcomed and transferred to their housing. For interns arriving at an earlier date, a pickup maybe provided if requested and subject to availability.
COVID: Full vaccination is required to participate to the internship. A PCR, at own cost (€50), is required on Saturday or Sunday before the Monday internship start date and it has to be conducted at the hospital’s testing center (48-hour validity before stating the internship) and/or a weekly rapid test at own cost (€10). If you are having symptoms then there is an immediate requirement for a PCR test, at own cost (€50). If you are tested positive at any stage or have been in contact with a confirmed case, then the host site is requiring you to self-isolate for 8 days and then return to the internship site.
The accommodation is fully furnished (single or double beds), with WiFi,
shared with 1-6 other same-sex interns, and located in safe areas with
easy access to public transport and close to the hospital. The last
night of the accommodation is the Friday night of the final week,
leaving interns free to depart on Saturday. Extra nights of
accommodation or private apartments can be arranged in advance, if
requested and subject to availability.

Visum, vluchten, reisverzekering en vaccinaties zijn NIET inbegrepen in de programmakosten.
Eten, tussendoortjes en drankjes zijn bijkomende kosten.
De dichtste luchthaven is Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport (ATH) in Athens. We assisteren u met het vinden van goedkope vluchten naar Griekenland.
Naar het buitenland reizen is een avontuur en het is best om goed voorbereid te zijn. Plots ziek worden of gewond raken, annulaties of diefstal - een reisverzekering voor Griekenland biedt zekerheid en is een meerwaarde.
Als je de intentie hebt om als vrijwilliger aan de slag te gaan in Griekenland dien je eerst medisch advies in te winnen alvorens je eropuit trekt. Kijk de benodigde vaccinaties na voor Griekenland.
