    Samaritan Volunteers is an NGO registered under the Non Government Act with Registration number 00NGO/R/2581. The organization based in providing and supporting education for the children from low income families in Chamazi community. We run schools know as Samaritan School which support to provide  education for the children. The school was founded in 2018 with the help of local and international volunteers who are regularly visit our project through out the year. Local teachers and volunteers conduct lessons to our children from Kindergarten education level to  Primary education level.

    Our mission is to ensure that every child in Tanzania has the right to study and have the opportunities for that . Through our NGO we are focusing to provide better education to our children from low income families and  those who are in difficult situations of their daily life

    Our vision is to create a sustainability infrastructure for every child to have access to a vibrant safe and stimulating place to study. Every neighborhood should have a modern school area that suitable for children whatever their family’s income. We believe that education is a necessary and a human right , not a luxury

    Volunteering with us you will create a significant impact to the lives of our children and contribute to the social impact in our community Get a fully experience on how education system work in Tanzania , experience a real local life and exploring the beauty of Tanzania during weekends and free time

    What visa do i need to?

    To volunteer in Tanzania you will need an ordinary visa for the purpose of humanitarian and charity activities. This visa is obtained online through Tanzania immigration website ( www.immigration.go.tz). This visa cost 100$ for US citizen and 50$ for all other countries. The visa is  valid for the period of 3 months and you can renew it once. If you plan to stay longer than 3 months you will need Visa extension which cost approximately 300$ for US citizen and 250$ for other nationalities. We will help to with all the procedures to obtain a Visa 

    What should i bring with me during this trip ?

     Pjama , Trousers, T - shirt that cover your shoulders , Hat / Cap , Jumper 

    All clothes should cover your body parts like shoulder, stomach and knees during the school program 

    Other clothes that you will use during weekends and free time or at the accommodation are Bikin , Underwear , Tops and Shorts

    Toothbrush & Toothpaste , Hair Brush , Bobbles & Hairbands , Shampoos & Shower-Gel & Conditioners , Menstruation Cup ,Body Lotion and  Laundry Detergent/ Travel Size

    What Is The Minimum / Maximum Time I Can Participate In A Project?

    The minimum stay in our project is 4 weeks . At the begging it will take some few days to get used with everything and find the best way to offer your help. Due to Visa regulations the maximum time you can stay at our project is 3 months before renew again 

    I would like to volunteer in Tanzania but I don’t have anyone to come with me Is it possible to come alone ? 

    Yes , you can absolutely volunteer in Tanzania alone. Mostly of the volunteers come on their own and become part of the people in our community. You will meet other volunteers from all over around the world , our local staff and local people, so you will not feel alone. It’s a great opportunity to make new friends while contributing to a meaningful work

    Can I donate something? If yes, what can I donate 

    Donations are always more than welcomed. If you have space in your luggage and you would like to bring some gifts for the kids here it's some materials that we need: 

    • Pencils

    • Blackboard chalks 

    • Notebooks

    • Children’s games (to learn the alphabet and the numbers)

    The closest Airport to our project is in Dar es salaam ( Julius Nyerere International Airport )

    How can i get from the AirPort to the Volunteers Accommodation? 

    We are available 24/7 to pick our volunteers. Pick up and drop off is included in our accommodation package You will require to share your flight ticket with us so that we can arrange your pick up

    Daily Schedule for Volunteers

    Volunteering programs start from 9am to 12:30pm where volunteers are helping in our Elementary school with the children from the age of 3 to 6 years old. You will be teaching and assisting our local teachers in different tasks and activities. These children are learning basic education which involve basic Mathematics, basic of English language, Reading and Writing, Arts, Health Care, basic of Swahili language as well as Sports and Games. For the volunteers with education skills and experience it’s a great opportunity for our local teacher to exchange method and tactics of giving lesson to our children which will help to improve both experience. For the volunteers with willing and passion to help our children they will be assisting our local teacher in different tasks like correcting the class works, taking care of the children, saving meals to the children, cleaning and washing dishes and playing with children different games.

    In the evening from 4pm to 6pm we have lessons for older children from the age of 7 to 18 years old who are studying in public schools around our community. They usually come to our school to learn English language, Mathematics and Computer skills which are most difficult lessons for them in public schools. These lessons are controlled by volunteers and one local teacher where they get involved with these children and help them to improve their English language, Mathematics and Computer skills. It’s also a very interesting class since children in this class are very passionate and eager to learn from our volunteers

    Volunteers are usually working 5 hours per day and 5 days per week. The school start from Monday to Friday. Friday is sport day and volunteers, teachers and children are usually learning and play different sports and games in our school play ground.

    • Enjoy your weekend and free time at the beach. We have many nice beach at the cost of Dar es salaam, we usually recommend  to our volunteers beautiful and safe beach  to visit to enjoy your weekend and free time 
    • Zanzibar Island Visit. Zanzibar is a worldwide known as a paradise island whereby you can enjoy different activities like swim with dolphins , snorkeling & diving , visit the old town ( stone town ), spice farms , blue safari and enjoy your time at the most beautiful beaches. We organize all these tours to our volunteers during weekends for the affordable price 
    • Safaris and Mountains trekking . Tanzania is the best places for Safaris and mountains trekking. We have many national parks and mountains whereby volunteers can make unforgettable memories. We organize all Safaris and mountains trekking to our volunteers with affordable price
    • Enjoy the night life of Dar es salaam. The social life in Dar es salaam is amazing because people here are so open , friendly and love a good lough. We are very famous for partying and knows how to have  a very good time. The Dj's and musicians are some of the best in Africa. There are many bars , clubs , restaurants popular amongst tourist and volunteers whereby you can let your hair down and socialize with locals and people from across the world 
    • Islands visit off Dar salaam. We have several islands off Dar es salaam where you can enjoy your weekends and free time there. We normally organize all there tours to our volunteers to have the best experience

    Om deel te nemen aan het programma dien je tenminste 18 jaar oud te zijn op de startdatum van het programma. Er kunnen uitzonderingen gemaakt worden indien je een bewijs van toestemming kan aantonen van uw wettelijke voogd(en) of samen met je ouders deelneemt.

    We also looking for volunteers with other skills of social media, content writer, website design, maintenance, music skills and soccer. Our social media need constantly improvement as well as our website. We also have guitar and piano for volunteers with skills and experience with these instrument its a great place to share their knowledge. Our children like soccer too. Any volunteer with soccer skills are welcome to share with our children and they will be very happy

    Program fees include: 

    • The cost of accommodation where we will provide you with a shared room ( One room for two volunteers of the same gender with private bed each ) Or private room according to the availability 

    • 3 meals per day which include light breakfast, light lunch and dinner. Our meals are mostly cooked food in our volunteer house. Our meals are prepared with a very highly hygiene with our kitchen staffs and all meals we prepare are safe for our volunteers. We also prepare special meals to our volunteers who have special diet. For special meals you have to contact us before you arrive for us to get to know about your diet.  We also have professional chef and  a good kitchen if a volunteer wants to prepare its own meals

    • Other services like  free   Wi-Fi at the living room only , security bills and all other services bills at the accommodation

    • Airport Pickup  and drop off 
    Note : The Price doesn't cover the cost simcard  internet and drinking water. We normally use Simcard internet , when a volunteer will arrive we will help his/her to get a simcard and you can buy your own internet. The price of internet start from 5$ to 25$ depends with how much you spend for a month and also you can recharge internet if you will finish the previous one. For Drinking water you can buy in our nearby stores in our accommodation. The price for drinking water cost 0.5$ for One Littre and a half

    We will pickup our volunteers the day of arrival. Our volunteers requires to book a flight to Dar es salaam international airport known as  Julius Nyerere international Airport. Our team is available 24 hours to pick our volunteers. 

    We will also drop off the day of depart to our project.

    Accomodatie

    • Volunteers will be staying in our volunteers houses. We have the main house which has 3 Private rooms and 3 shared rooms and our second accommodation have 2 private room and 2 shared rooms. All the meals are at our main house . From our second accommodation to our main house it's 3 minutes walk

    • Our volunteer house is located in a very safe and peacefully community. Free walking around the village and people are very friendly and welcoming.

    • Our main school is 3 minutes walk from our main accommodation. Volunteers will be also working in other schools which are under our organization and they are located less than 3 kilometers from our main school and we will provide the transportation to our volunteers 

    • Surrounded by the nature, hills and slopes for nice view, Sunrise, Sunset and Stars are always available 

    • We have running water and electricity most of the time . Note that since the running water is for shared with neighbors in our community sometimes we run out of water for a minimum of 3 hours. During this time we have a reserve water near our washroom where volunteers can use it also .Sometimes  we also have shortage of power in all over our country. Volunteers may experience a power cut for a minimum of 5 to 6 hours or even more and its also happen in a very few times  

    Eten & Drank

    We provide three meals per day and mostly cooked food. Our volunteers will enjoy our local food which are cooked in a very good hygiene. We have different types of food which our volunteer will enjoy to eat. The most typical food here are rice, potatoes, pasta, wheat foods, meat, chicken, fish Ugali ( African food), eggs, bread and so many types of meals.

    We provide different types of fruits which are included in daily meals. We have many types of fruits which our volunteers will enjoy while they are here in our project.

    We also have  professional chef and a good kitchen if a volunteer wants to prepare its own meals.

    Volunteers are required to book the flight to Dar es Salaam international Airport which is close to our project. 

    We will come pick you from the Airport to our accommodation with one of our staff team who will have a white paper written your name. 

    Our project start from Monday to Friday. 

    We are available to host volunteers  through out the year. You can join us at any month from January to December
