    Program Description

Krýsuvík Summer Camp is a fun and meaningful youth volunteer experience for participants aged 14–17. Located in the remote countryside of the Reykjanes Peninsula, the program combines environmental volunteer work, outdoor adventures, cultural experiences, and international friendship.

The first days of the program are dedicated to arrival, getting settled, meeting the group, learning about the project, and receiving information about daily routines, safety, meals, accommodation, and the volunteer work.

Once the program begins, participants follow a regular weekday schedule, with volunteer work from Monday to Friday. The work focuses mainly on environmental restoration and practical outdoor activities in the Krýsuvík area, with tasks adapted to the project’s needs and weather conditions.

Weekends are dedicated to activities and excursions around Iceland. These include some of the country’s most famous natural and cultural attractions, such as the Golden Circle, the South Coast, whale watching, Reykjavík, and a guided glacier experience.

The program combines learning, teamwork, responsibility, adventure, and fun, allowing young participants to contribute to Icelandic nature while discovering the country together.

We encourage our volunteers to try vegan and vegetarian meals during their stay with us.

We provide a well-balanced and healthy variety of food products that includes a wide variety of whole grains, seasonal fruits & vegetables, pantry staples, dairy products, vegetarian/vegan options. We try to reduce our carbon footprint on the planet by cutting down our meat intake and we usually encourage volunteers to try more sustainable dishes.

However, we will provide the ingredients for you to bake delicious snacks! As we bake our own bread feel free to bring any golden crust recipes from home!

Please let us know if you have any food allergies or special dietary needs in advance.

    Gegevens over jouw aankomst

    Arrival Date

The first day of the camp is Arrival Day, and the last day of the camp is Departure Day.

Participants will be picked up directly at Keflavík International Airport by the WF team.

Since participants may arrive on different flights and at different times, airport pick-ups will be organized in small groups according to flight arrival schedules. We will coordinate the pick-ups in advance to make the arrival process as smooth and organized as possible.

Before the camp, we will create a WhatsApp group for all participants and the camp leaders. This will be the main communication channel during the program. Participants will receive important information about their arrival, airport pick-up, meeting points, daily activities, schedules, and any changes through the group.

Depending on the participants' flight schedules, we may wait for several participants arriving around the same time and organize the airport transfer together. This allows us to coordinate transportation efficiently while making sure that everyone is safely welcomed and transferred to the camp.

    Departure Date

On the last day of the camp, WF will take participants back to Keflavík International Airport according to their departure flight schedules.

Departure transfers will also be organized according to flight times and may be arranged in groups.
