Our program:
Our main mission is to protect sea turtles. With the support of the local community and the international volunteers, we work to help conserve the environment. By working with sea turtles, communal and environmental education programs, we will be able to educate people on the importance of caring about such a valuable environmental resource: sea turtles.
The work consists of supporting the coordination of the volunteers in the camp, assigning tasks, recruiting volunteers to join the program etc. You must be in constant communication with the general coordinator with whom you will determine the tasks to be performed in the project.
Who we are looking for:
The assistant will have an active participation in the program. For this reason a minimum of 6 months is required in which in the first 2 weeks the volunteer will learn in detail about the work to be done. Thus, they can explain the information to future volunteers and give them guidance during the project.
In addition, the volunteer must be an active person who maintains the good atmosphere in the camp and be a leader who is open to communication with the rest of the volunteers.
Supporters will Iive in the camp, in a cabin for the staff members, located in Barra de Pacuare Tortuguero National Park Costa Rica.
Dagelijkse activiteiten
The day of the volunteer coordination assistant begins with assigning the corresponding tasks to the volunteers in the camp, writing on the board the different tasks to carry out that day.
After breakfast, which is at 8 a.m., we start working on the project, which varies depending on the season. If we are in the turtle season and there are eggs in the hatchery, the schedules will be in different shifts for all the volunteers. During the day there is maintenance work or some social work in the small town of Pacuare bar. At night, patrols are made from 8 PM to 12 AM and from 12 AM to 4 AM. Hatchery shifts are 3 or 4 hours depending on the number of volunteers there.
Breakfast: 8:00
Lunch: 12:00
Dinner: 6:00
Vrijetijdsactiviteiten
During free time, volunteers will have the opportunity to play sports, walk through the jungle, kayak, fish and make campfire on the beach among other things that can be done in a place surrounded by nature and with an extensive beach.

Om deel te nemen aan het programma dien je ten minste 25 jaar te zijn op de startdatum van het programma.
Je dient over volgende taalkennis te beschikken Engels (vloeiend)
ou Spaans (gemiddeld niveau)
Biologist op niveau
Geen beperkingen. Helpende handen van over de hele wereld zijn welkom.

We live in 2 cabins with 2 rooms. Each room houses 8 people.
We provide the typical Costa Rican food like gallo pinto, picadillo, empanadas, panqueques.
Drinks such as lemon, passion fruit, and typical fruits juices from Costa Rica.
We provide 3 meals a day: breakfast, lunch and dinner.
We are able to provide especial dietary such as vegetarian or vegan. Our dietary is mostly vegetarian.
Beperkte toegang op de project site
Visum, vluchten, reisverzekering en vaccinaties zijn NIET inbegrepen in de programmakosten.
Afhaling van de luchthaven is ook niet inbegrepen in de programmakosten.
De dichtste luchthaven is Juan Santamaria International Airport (SJO) in San Jose. We assisteren u met het vinden van goedkope vluchten naar Costa Rica.
Naar het buitenland reizen is een avontuur en het is best om goed voorbereid te zijn. Plots ziek worden of gewond raken, annulaties of diefstal - een reisverzekering voor Costa Rica biedt zekerheid en is een meerwaarde.
Als je de intentie hebt om als vrijwilliger aan de slag te gaan in Costa Rica dien je eerst medisch advies in te winnen alvorens je eropuit trekt. Kijk de benodigde vaccinaties na voor Costa Rica.

1. From the Gran Terminal del Caribe of San José, take the bus to Siquirres at 11:00 am. You will arrive to Siquirres around 1:15 pm.
2. From the terminal of Siquirres, walk to La Estación Intercantonal, also called Parada de los Calvos (300m). Ask people where you can get on a bus to Las Vegas de Imperio.
3. Take the bus to Las Vegas de Imperio which leaves at 2:30 pm. Get off the bus at the last stop.
4. There, a staff member will be waiting for you. The boat transportation cost is 35$ per person, round trip.

De waarborg dient om je plek als vrijwilliger te verzekeren. Betalingen worden door PayPal behandeld, onze betrouwbare betalingsprovider. Indien je niet over een PayPal account beschikt, kan je ook met een credit kaart betalen.
Uw finale betaling zal worden goedgekeurd door Tortugas de Pacuare gedurende de aanmeld procedure. Veel voorkomende oplossingen zijn een banktransfer of contante betaling op de projectsite.
