Gegevens over jouw aankomst
Unlike our standard volunteer programs, the Boresha Global Academy does not operate on a rolling-start basis. These are structured, cohort-based programs with set intake dates, allowing participants to arrive, learn, volunteer, travel and experience Tanzania together as a group.
You can choose between two program formats:
🎓 12-Week Global Citizenship Academy – Flagship Program
Our complete three-month experience, combining a consistent internship placement with Global Citizenship learning, personal development, cultural immersion, travel and adventure. Participants also work towards a substantial Legacy Project in collaboration with their local placement.
🌍 6-Week Global Citizenship Fast-Track
A shorter, more intensive Academy experience for participants who cannot commit to the full three months. You'll still combine your internship with structured learning, cultural experiences, personal development, safari and adventures across northern Tanzania, but within a condensed six-week format.

6-Week Global Citizenship Fast-Track
Although every week brings something different, the Academy follows a consistent rhythm designed to balance meaningful practical experience with learning, personal growth, travel and plenty of time to enjoy life in Tanzania.
Monday – Placement
Begin the week at your chosen internship placement, working consistently alongside our Tanzanian partner organisation and gradually building your skills, relationships and understanding.
Tuesday – Placement + Global Citizenship
After your placement, come together for a practical Global Citizenship session exploring topics such as ethical volunteering, sustainable development, culture, root causes, capacity building and responsible international engagement.
Wednesday – Placement + Culture & Connection
Continue your placement before a more interactive afternoon. Depending on the week, this could include Swahili, Tanzanian cooking, art, cultural workshops, guest speakers, traditional experiences or other activities.
Thursday – Placement + Personal Growth
Thursday combines your placement with self-development, reflection and your Global Impact Journal. Explore confidence, identity, values, resilience, leadership and how living abroad is changing your perspective. Thursday evening is also our regular debrief and social night — and often party night!
Friday – Placement + Free Afternoon
Friday is generally another placement day, followed by a free afternoon to relax, explore Arusha, spend time with friends or simply enjoy your home base. Depending on your placement and program week, there may also be flexibility to take Friday off.
Saturday – Adventure Day
Saturday is for experiencing Tanzania. Across your program, included adventures may take you hiking to waterfalls, cycling through villages and banana plantations, exploring coffee country, learning from local communities, visiting hot springs or heading into the landscapes surrounding Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru.
Your program also includes one of Tanzania's ultimate experiences — a two-day safari through the northern safari circuit.
Sunday – Reset Day
Sundays are generally free. Sleep in, explore, catch up with friends, relax by the pool or simply reset before another week begins.
Your time in Tanzania is designed to build progressively. You'll begin by settling into your new environment and learning to understand your placement and Tanzanian context before moving more deeply into Global Citizenship, ethical engagement and meaningful contribution.
Participants on the longer Flagship Academy have additional time to develop their placement relationships, explore complex development issues and work collaboratively towards a Legacy Project identified alongside their local partner.
Throughout both programs, you'll share the experience with your Academy cohort — living together, learning together and making the most of Tanzania through social nights, dinners, games, cultural experiences, weekend adventures and plenty of spontaneous moments in between.
Please note: Because these programs follow a structured curriculum and group itinerary, participants must join one of the advertised intake dates rather than selecting individual arrival dates or program durations. Places are limited for each cohort.
