    Om programmet

If you are looking to learn agroforestry and regenerative farming through hands-on experience while living close to nature and community, this experience is for you.

    About

Eco Caminhos is a self-sustaining Eco Farm and international community located in the mountains of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Since the beginning of the project, volunteers have been an essential part of our journey.

Our mission is to create a more sustainable way of living through Permaculture, Agroforestry, Organic Farming, Renewable Energy and Bioconstruction, while staying connected to nature and using technology responsibly and consciously.

    More Than a Volunteer Experience

Eco Caminhos is not only about practical work. It is also a space for personal growth, cultural exchange and meaningful human connection.

We believe that building a better future means learning how to live and work together with respect, collaboration and openness. We welcome people from all over the world who want to contribute, learn new skills and experience a more grounded and intentional lifestyle.

    Location

Located about two hours from Rio de Janeiro, near the small rural city of Nova Friburgo, Eco Caminhos is surrounded by mountains, rivers, waterfalls and the rich biodiversity of the Atlantic Forest.

The calm environment, starry nights and slower rhythm of life create the perfect setting to reconnect with nature, yourself and community life.

    What You'll Be Doing

As a volunteer, you will participate in different sustainable projects around the farm and gain practical experience in areas such as Agroforestry, Organic Farming, Permaculture and Bioconstruction.

We create personalized schedules for short-term volunteers so they can focus on the areas that interest them the most or explore a wider variety of experiences across the farm.

Most volunteers work 3 days per week, totaling 24 hours weekly.

    Free Time & Activities

The remaining days are free to rest, explore the region, visit Rio de Janeiro, learn Portuguese or join extra community activities such as cooking workshops, hikes and camping weekends.

    Learning & Community Life

During your first week, project coordinators will introduce you to the sustainable practices and projects developed at Eco Caminhos.

Over time, volunteers become part of the daily life of the community, sharing experiences, ideas and learning together with people from many different cultures and backgrounds.

This program is about contributing with your own personal touch while discovering new ways of living with more simplicity, purpose and connection to nature.

    Fritidsaktiviteter

Eco Caminhos is located on the edge of the Parque Estadual dos Três Picos, within the Atlantic Forest ecosystem. The region is surrounded by mountains, waterfalls, forests, and beautiful landscapes, offering many opportunities for outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, horseback riding, and nature exploration.

During the week, we often organize community activities such as movie nights, game nights, campfires, shared dinners, and volunteer gatherings. These moments are a great way to relax, connect with others, and enjoy the community experience outside of work activities. From time to time, we also organize camping weekends and special group outings.

Volunteers are free to spend their free time as they wish. Some activities organized by the community are free, while others with external costs, such as horseback riding or certain trips, require personal payment.

You can also visit Nova Friburgo, the nearest city, either alone or with other volunteers. It is a calm and friendly mountain city with good infrastructure, shops, restaurants, markets, and cafés. A local bus stop is located about 500 meters from the farm, with buses running to the city several times a day.

On weekends, many volunteers also choose to travel to Rio de Janeiro, which is approximately a 3-hour bus ride away, to explore beaches, cultural attractions, music, nightlife, and everything the city has to offer.
