This program is an amazing opportunity to contribute to the organizations that take care of our four-legged dog friends that have been lost or abandoned. Your role in the animal shelters will be to spend your time playing with them, going on long walks together so that they don´t stay in their cages constantly, feeding them and keeping them clean.
Moreover, the goal of these shelters is to host the animals and ensure their well-being, so they can be adopted and loved by a new permanent family. You will be given the chance to participate in their adoption campaigns and charitable bazaars.
Your assistance and support to the local staff and volunteers will be of great importance, in order to keep the shelter running smoothly, ensuring all dogs get attention and care and that the place is maintained and clean.
Your tasks will vary day-to-day but can include assisting with playing and socializing with the dogs, feeding them, cleaning them and their houses, going for walks with them, supporting the adoption events, and taking photos and videos of the dogs to help promote their adoption.
Daily affection and socialization with the animals are very important, as it enables them to be more social with people and it makes it easier for them to be adopted later.
As you will be volunteering with the support of a local team and placement staff, you do not need to be qualified or experienced to participate in this project. However, we encourage you to come prepared around the topic – if you love animals, but you are not used to them.
