    Working as a  Pediatrician  in  Emergency department  of child hospitals based in Kathmandu city  is a great way for medical students to learn about the Nepalese healthcare system.  Meanwhile  in Kathmandu you will start immersing yourself in the local culture. Your tasks will vary depending on your background. but if you have medical training or formal experience you will be able to practice non-intrusive care for patients under supervision from local professionals.

    As a medical volunteer or nursing student  you will have plenty opportunities to expand your medical experience. For instance, you can observe different Pediatric surgical operations or complete the nursing routines in Oncology Unit. Medical volunteers can work also at the Neonatal and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit or give Immunization to newborn babies such as vaccinations of polio, measles, mumps and rubella.

    As a medical volunteer in Nepal you will have both the opportunity to improve and share your medical skills. Moreover, you will discover the most eminent health issues that developing countries face today. You will learn a great deal while also doing really valuable work having a positive impact on the local community and the development of the Nepalese healthcare system.

    During your medical internship you’ll also understand how scarce of the personal hygiene education of the people are in Nepal. Infectious diseases such as dengue fever, scrub typhus, tuberculosis, which are very rare in developed countries of the first world are serious health problems in Nepal.

    Your duties as a medical volunteer in Nepal will be decided subject to your abilities and experience. Volunteers with medical training or formal experience will under the supervision of the local team of professionals  practice non-intrusive care. The hospital will welcome you as a keen learner. at the same time you will be able to share your knowledge of the medical techniques from your home country.

    Since you will be living and working as a medical volunteer in Nepal in the historical Kathmandu city you will get to witness the peculiar way of life of its inhabitants. Moreover you will immerse yourself in Nepali culture. You will enjoy the tasty and wonderful food too as the staff will serve you a traditional Nepali Style lunch everyday while you are working. Also you will have a local support contact who will be there for you throughout your placement as a medical volunteer in Nepal.

    As a  Pediatrician  in  Emergency department you will have a fantastic opportunity to gain first-hand experience and insight into Nepal health care. Medical volunteers in Nepal work with highly trained local staff. This gives individuals exposure and tuition that they are unlikely to obtain in their own country.

    While working in emergency services, senior doctors assign you to a case based on your experience in the relevant field. You could be an observer for few days and slowly  involve in handling emergency case under the supervision of the doctors and nurses . You could be welcoming the patient in the hospital or provide quick emergency services. these are the general routines you will go through. 

    • 7 AM Wake up, Breakfast 
    • 8 AM Go to the Local hospital
    • 9 AM start your work as a medical volunteer, intern, doctor etc. under the supervision of the chief of the emergency department .
    • 1 PM Lunch hour for 1 full hour
    • 2-4 PM again enjoy the work as advised by the hospital
    • 5 PM Tea and snacks in host family
    • 7 PM Dinner
    • 8 -10 PM Reading, movie time, storytelling to kids in home stay
    • 10 PM bedtime.

    in Friday you will have half day schedules and full day off on Saturday as part of weekend days off where you will visit some sights, do outdoor activates, make the laundry of your clothes visit some restaurant in town etc.

    We do pick up volunteers from Tribhuwan intl airport based in Kathmandu, if you are coming from other airports, land transfer etc. volunteers are requested to arrive to the home stay themselves. Our shuttle van picks up and brings you to our family own home stay Be here Now.  based in central part of Kathmandu

    Alojamento

    You will be provided a single accommodation. If there are more volunteers in busy times the room will be shared with private bathrooms.  Accommodations will be in the center of Kathmandu nearby the hospital. for your kind info we use our own home stay cum guest house called Be Here now guest house which you can also see in google and other online platforms and get more info and pictures.

    Foods are basically Nepalese cuisines including rice, curry, breads, eggs, chicken,  pasta, momos, fruits etc. Doods are served 3 times a day for volunteers. we have variety of choices including veg and nonveg foods as per he volunteers interest.
