The massive rise of rhino poaching has made waves throughout the world, as it becomes more evident by the day that if drastic action isn’t taken, our future generations may very well come to know the rhinoceros as an extinct creature.
Taking action requires innovative ideas and ingenuity, and the Rhino Momma Project did exactly that, they took decisive action in an innovative
manner, and as a result, they have made a signi8cant difference in the growing numbers of rhinos in Namibia.
Be a part of saving this iconic species from extinction. They need all the help they can get with round the clock feeding observation, data
management, admin, and the general well-being of these animals.

When volunteering with us, you will be helping take care of our rhinos, monitoring their activity and behavior, and so much more! Every day is a new adventure, filled with excitement, fun, and learning.

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to work up close with these beautiful animals and be a part of their legacy.

Our successes
  • The Rhino Momma Project exported a total of 17 White Rhinos to a safe and protected reserve within the DRC, Congo during 2018. These were the first White Rhinos to be introduced to the DRC in 50 years! These Rhinos have already started breeding, and at least 1 calf has been born.
  • 3 White Rhinos have been translocated to a Game Reserve in Angola.
  • A further 10 White Rhinos have been relocated to a breeding project in the United States of America.
  • The remainder of our calves were relocated to protected reserves across Namibia to increase the general population.
  • In just 9 years, from January 2013 to March 2022, the Rhino Momma Project has succeeded to facilitate in the birth of 124 White Rhinos boosting dwindling numbers in the world. We humbly celebrate this as a great achievement for Rhino conservation!

Sobre o projecto

It’s time to take real action. It’s a widely known fact that rhinos are on the brink of extinction – but not if we do our part in saving and protecting them.

Conheça seu anfitrião

The Rhino Momma Project was born when the son of the owner, was tasked to do a school project on conservation when he was 16 years old. The assignment included an oral part and he settled on talking about saving the White Rhino from extinction by populating Namibia and Africa by breeding as many calves as possible on our reserve.

This idea inspired us to take action and the first Rhino was purchased in August 2011, a five-year-old bull that we named Cedrick.

To establish a breeding pair, a White Rhino cow with a heifer (female calf) were purchased at a game auction in May 2012. By January 2013, we celebrated the arrival of the first calf and with that, the Rhino Momma Project took off!

With these events, a deep love was born for the Rhino species, and we have since dedicated our lives and resources to protecting and breeding these magnificent animals!

In our mission, we are passionate and deliberate in our actions to save the magnificent White Rhinoceros from extinction, and we do this through anti-poaching, conservation education, and as a top priority, breeding new calves to repopulate Namibia and Africa.

We envision a world where wild Rhino numbers are stable and increasing and more importantly, where Rhinos are safe, and protected by communities that have a profound appreciation for them.

From January 2013 to March 2022, 124 calves were born at the Rhino Momma Project!

Be a part of saving this iconic species from extinction. They need all the help they can get with round-the-clock feeding and behavioral observation, data management, admin, the general well-being of these animals and so much more. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to work up close with these beautiful animals and be a part of their legacy.

By volunteering with us, you will do exactly that. Taking care of such large, magnificent animals is no easy task, therefore any extra helping hand is greatly appreciated not only by our team but especially by our rhinos.
