    We do need helping hands to offer the kids individual help to families. As Costa Rica is still in online course, the kids do need your help. Many parents and families do not speak English and are not able to help the kids during online classes. We do offer volunteer placements at the beach and close to the city. We would be happy for long term volunteers but we are also very happy to receive you as a short term volunteer!

    You love children and you enjoy working with them? Then you are a perfect fit for our projects in Costa Rica. 
    There is a huge difference between our school system in Europe and the school system in Costa Rica. It is quite common that kindergarten and school are close to each other and sometimes they are even in the same building. Therefore you are going to have a variety in your operating range. In the vicinity of Santa Barbara there are 3 different schools and kindergartens where volunteers can help. Depending on your English level you will be placed with younger or older kids. Volunteers will assist the local stuff in all areas as you can see below.
     
    Speaking English is getting more and more important due to rising tourist numbers. Your job is going to be as a consultant for the English teachers in the schools where­ you are going to support them in their subject. If you are very confident with the language and you show 
    dedication you can also support other teachers in other subjects. Create small exercises for your students, make them smile while they are learning and think of appreciation in the children’s eyes. 

    How you can help:
    - Helping to teach children
    - Attending to and interacting with the children
    - Creating activities and entertaining the children with games and songs
    - Teaching basic English, hygiene and spiritual values
    - helping in the kitchen and other duties
    All volunteer places are in public schools. Children are between 6 and 14 years old.

    Holidays:
    In the end of June/Beginning of July each year are 2 weeks holidays. We are able to place you during this period in our day care center :)
    from middle of December till beginning of February schools are closed in Costa Rica.

    Every day is special! By working with kids every day is special and different. We would like to help you to get an overview about a typical volunteer day:

    07:30/08:00am: typical breakfast with your host family
    after walking or taking a bus to your project
    09:00am: starting your volunteering
    1:00 pm: ending volunteering
    afternoon: hanging out with other volunteers, doing activities such as going to the cinema, going to swimming pools or just strolling around in town.

If you need any help to plan a trip we are very happy to help you organizing it.

    Para aderir ao programa é necessário ter pelo menos 18 anos de idade na data de início do programa. Poderá haver excepções se puder fornecer a permissão do(s) seu(s) tutor(es) legal(ais) ou se estiver acompanhado pelos seus pais.

    Recepção no aeroporto em Juan Santamaria International Airport

    Upon your arrival in San Jose you will be collected at the airport and taken to your host family accommodation in Santa Barbara de Heredia.
    Arriving day: perfect on weekend, to start the project on a Monday.
    The driver will wait outside of the airport with the name from you on a sign. He will bring you directly to your family. 

    Alojamento

    You will enjoy breakfast and dinner in your local family based on the typical Costa rican diet, for example rice, beans, vegetables, meat. The host family is in walking distance to your project. Rooms usually individual rooms are not shared with other volunteers, just if you apply as a group we do share a room, if the families can provide it, so you can live more close to each other. All standard amenities are available, including showers and shared bathrooms, and there is even free Wi-Fi! This is a perfect home away from home and a wonderful base for your stay in Costa Rica!

    Alimentos e Bebidas

    Volunteers are provided 3 meals a day at the host family throughout the week. It is typical Costa rican food, which is based on rice and beans. If you are vegetarian or vegan please let us know before arriving.

    At your arrival at San Jose airport, you will be picked up by a driver and he will drop you off at your host family’s place. Here you will immerse into your new life - ­ the costa rican life.  

    You can start your project every monday. 
    Arriving day is Sunday or on an individual day in arrangement.
