Volunteers will have an opportunity to participate in cultural music and dance.
Volunteers will have an opportunity to learn about the Ugandan education system.
Volunteers will meet amazing families, teachers other volunteers from around the world, and of course, the beautiful children in Uganda.
Baby Class is Daycare to Kindergarten and Primary School is P1-P7. Volunteers are needed to help plan, teach and run activities. This volunteer program is especially suitable for:
Age 18+

** All Volunteers are required to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19**

This program involves working at schools to assist in teaching children starting at age 3 years. Baby Class is Daycare and Kindergarten and Primary School is P1through P7. This could be leading classes, art activities and much more.

Our education program focuses on assisting teachers and schools in new initiatives, education and activities. Most schools here are over crowded and under-resourced. Volunteers can be invaluable by assisting and by helping teachers run classes, bringing new ideas, marking and development of work sheets and general duties. Past volunteers have been involved in developing physical education classes, sports activities, reading books, movies and ensuring that all children are given enough attention to succeed at school.
By volunteering in our education program, you will not only impact the lives of the students and teachers, it will be a life-changing experience for you as well.

Typical day

A typical day for baby class is 8am to 12 noon.

Primary school depends on the class (grade). The lower primary classes can end at 2pm and the higher primary classes Usually go until 4pm.

Free-time activities

In your free time there is many options for activities! A lot of our volunteers like to take extended weekends to do safari, gorilla trekking or adventure water sports. All of these are at the volunteers own cost, but are organised through our local partners to ensure the best price and experience. Our close proximity to Kampala means there is plenty of opportunity to explore the craft markets, eat local food and go to local events including football (soccer) games. We encourage volunteers to travel on their weekends and will help arrange trips or activities.
Water Sports

In order to join the program you need to be at least 18 years old on the program start date. There might be exemptions if you can provide the permission of your legal guardian(s) or if your are accompanied by your parents.

Other Skills
We only require a love for children and a desire to help in theIr educational growth. The children in Uganda start school between age 3-4 years; however, many families cannot afford the cost. When schools have volunteers, it lowers the overhead cost and allows for schools to be more affordable. Education is the is the key to ending poverty. If the next generation is educated, it will improve the overall economic conditions in Uganda.
