    Join a meaningful cultural exchange program in the heart of Colombia where you will teach, travel, and grow — while we take care of your accommodation, meals, and local experience. Teaching English abroad with Connections is more than volunteering — it’s an opportunity to make an impact, experience Colombian culture firsthand, and grow personally and professionally.

    Every volunteer will participate in a Teaching Training week, a practical mini TEFL-style course designed by our academic team to prepare you for the classroom. During this week, you’ll learn effective lesson planning, classroom management techniques, and our unique TalkBack teaching methodology. 

    At the end of your volunteering experience, you will receive an official Teaching Certificate of Participation, which includes the completion of this mini TEFL training. This certification is a valuable addition to your résumé or CV, helping you strengthen your professional profile and future teaching or international work opportunities.

     Your role as a volunteer will be lead a class from Monday to Friday (4 hours per day) using the materials and lesson plans provided. These lesson typically involve groups of 5 students in a classroom equipped with a laptop, a video projector and a sound system. No Teaching experience required.

    A volunteer´s typical day begins at 7:30am. There is a kitchen with all utensils where they can make breakfast. Then at 8am they start teaching until 10am.     A volunteer´s typical day begins at 7:30am. There is a kitchen with all utensils where they can make breakfast. Then at 8am they start teaching until 10am. In class, volunteers must follow the lesson plans as everything is explained in detail. The lessons last 1 hour and 45 minnutes. Preparing the class and marking assigments may also be required during the week.

    At 11 am they have Spanish classes at the institute. At midday they receive lunch delivered by a locol restaurant.While they are not teaching, volunteers can make their own plans and do the activities the city offers. 

    They have a free afternoon to do plan their own activities such as going to the gym, visiting cafes and tourist places in town. Teaching at the institute 4 hours per day. 

    Volunteers must review the lesson plans before the class in order to be prepare for it. From 6:30 to 8:30pm they have another class with a different group. 

    After dinner time, they can go out or stay at the terrace where there are two hammocks and a ping pong table. On weekends, the manager take the volunteers to do the ourdoor activities which are included with the program.

    Tjänster på plats

    Teaching training program before classes start, accomodation, one meal per day, Spanish lessons, outdoor activities (Rock climbing, Rappelling, horseback riding) Airport pick up, 24x7 support in case of an emergency.

    Volunteer are picked up either at the local airport or the bus station in Ibague.

    Boende

    Accommodation is located on the third floor of the institute facilities. There are two bedrooms with private bathroom. There is a terrace with two hammocks just for the volunteers. On the first floor there is a kitchen with all utensils. Also, there is a washing machine ready to use.

    Volunteers receive one meal per day delivered by a local restaurant. Rice, salad beans, plantain and different kids of proteins. Vegetarian menu too.
