Care for Children

Santiago de Chile, Chile show on map
Help take care of children in Chile by planning activities for them and assisting nurses with their daily tasks. Make a child smile! This volunteer program is especially suitable for:

The Project

Social institutions in Chile, such as children’s homes, day care centers, or similar establishments, often complain about a lack of staff and financial resources. They are dependent on the help of volunteers to help underprivileged children. During this project, national and international volunteers work with the so-called "tías" to give their best for the children and help alleviate some of the challenges that they face everyday.

As a volunteer, you can help children in either Santiago or Valparaiso and give hope to them and their families.

Projects involve working with:

  • Children or teenagers
  • Children with behavioural issues or disabilities in special facilities
  • Orphans and homeless children

It is very difficult to see so many children growing up without parents because they are deceased, have disappeared, or are in prison. In some cases, children have been thrown out by their parents because they could not take care of them. Without outreach projects and organizations, these children would not have any glimpse of hope for a better future.

Your Tasks

You don´t need any special knowledge to work with children, but you should be dedicated and able to take on responsibilities independently. You will be a role model for the children, so be aware of this great responsibility. There are many different tasks that volunteers can assist with, all of which depend on the needs of the children and the institution.

Before starting your volunteer work project, you will have an orientation from our local staff. One of our team members will accompany you to your project’s location on the first day (Santiago only).
