    Location: Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

    Duration: Flexible, year-round · 6–8 hrs/day, Monday–Friday

    About the role

    Join an award-winning program delivering frontline climate action — from the slopes of Kilimanjaro to village solar cookers. This is field-based, community-embedded work at a time when droughts are intensifying, and glaciers are retreating.

    What you'll do

    • Plant trees and manage reforestation nurseries
    • Deliver climate education in schools and villages
    • Drive media and policy advocacy (radio, TV, film)
    • Roll out renewable energy: solar cookers and household solar
    • Collect climate data and produce research and reporting

We also offer a variety of one-day programs for short breaks, such as diving and snorkeling at the reefs, swimming with dolphins, rainforest trekking in Kilimanjaro, live African music, a variety of sports programs, and craft-making, including batik-making courses, and so on.     The fee includes accommodation, breakfast, and dinner; program guidance with orientation and 24-hour staff presence; and academic graduate team leaders for all programs.

    The actual program is free of charge. You may have local small transfer costs.

    The cost does not include international flights, local transfers, charity volunteer visas, or personal purchases.

     

    Indkvartering

    Our eco-compound in Madale Village in the Dar es Salaam area has dorms, single, double, and family rooms. As an eco-compound, we use our flush toilets with bio-grade septic tanks; we collect shower water and use it as "grey water" for our tropical garden irrigation. This compound is in Madale village, so it is in the countryside but a short distance from the city.

    We charge for accommodation with breakfast and dinner only.

    We include breakfast and dinner in the lodging cost at our compound. Lunches are not included because most participants are out of the compound during the day. Local places to eat are around your placement and affordable.

    All drinks are at your own cost. Drinking water is available everywhere at a low price. We also run a compound bar, so you can easily access drinks and snacks
