    Art in Tanzania supports and develops village women's initiatives. The main focus is vocational training initiatives such as English and entrepreneurship training.

    Women's Development Intern — Entrepreneurship & Rights | Tanzania (On-site, Erasmus+)

    Type: Internship / volunteer placement

    Location: Villages and community spaces around Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

    Duration: Flexible, year-round · 6 hrs/day, Monday–Friday

    Ideal for: gender studies, social work, development studies, education, business

    Skills: entrepreneurship training, rights education, English & IT teaching, advocacy

    About the role

    Join an award-winning program and help women build skills, rights awareness and real economic opportunity — spanning entrepreneurship, women's rights education, English and IT training, health awareness and advocacy.

    What you'll do

    • Deliver entrepreneurship and business-skills training
    • Run women's rights education
    • Teach English and IT vocational skills
    • Support health and medical awareness
    • Use social media and advocacy to amplify women's voices

    Women are active with their small businesses during the daytime. So, mornings and early afternoons are for program planning and visibility work. They also seek marketing outlets for women's group products, mainly handicrafts.

    Women are active with their small businesses during the daytime. So, mornings and early afternoons are for program planning and visibility work. They also seek marketing outlets for women's group products, mainly handicrafts.

    Active time with the women starts around 4 PM when they arrive at the volunteer compound for training and advocacy sessions. Every participant has a daily plan, which is reported in the weekly results to ensure they remain active.

    We are also developing programs in which women produce handicrafts, grow herbs, and engage in other production at home daily, and deliver their products to the NGO for sale. These activities need guidance and support.

    The fee includes accommodation, breakfast, and dinner; program guidance with orientation and 24-hour staff presence; and academic graduate team leaders for all programs.

    The actual program is free of charge. You may have small local transfer costs.

    The cost does not include international flights, local transfers, tourist visas, and personal purchases.

    Indkvartering

    Our eco-compound in Madale Village in the Dar es Salaam area has dorms, single, double, and family rooms. As an eco-compound, we use flush toilets with bio-grade septic tanks; we collect shower water and use it as "grey water" for our tropical garden irrigation. This compound is in Madale village, so it is in the countryside but a short distance from the city.

    We charge for accommodation with breakfast and dinner only.

    We include breakfast and dinner in the lodging cost at our compound. Lunches are not included because most participants are out of the compound during the day. Local places to eat around your placement are low-cost.

    All drinks are at your own cost. Drinking water is available everywhere at a low price. We also run a compound bar, so you can easily access drinks and snacks.
