Support orphaned children and children in vulnerable positions, from ages between 5 and 18. This support is needed to help children develop emotionally and cognitively. This volunteer program is especially suitable for:
Age 18+
Singles
Couples
Groups

Our volunteer program focuses in giving children from vulnerable backgrounds new opportunities and support. In these care centers you will find children from poor families without access to education, orphaned children and youth, and the children of workers in the carpet industry. About five hundred children are care for, in diverse areas starting from nursery school all the way to seventh grade. Nepalese care centers exist thanks to donations received from charities and private donors that enables them to buy basic necessities such as rent, food, and clothing; although, these care centers still face constant struggle.

These care centers focus in providing sustainable educational support and caring vulnerable children and youth from all around Nepal, so that they can improve their emotional and cognitive development and get better opportunities in life. Because of that, volunteers' main tasks will be supporting educational and recreational activities with the children, such as art, songs, dances, or didactic games. Volunteers are also expected to collaborate with local staff in the development of new ideas and activities that can help children and youth improve their learning. Volunteers' labour is invaluable, as any support given can significantly help build and improve the self-esteem of the children and youth at the centers. Some other activities volunteers may do at these centers are:

+Creating and taking part in didactic games and sports for children.

+Spending time with children, sharing stories and making them feel welcome

+Teaching basic English, in case the volunteer knows it

+Helping out in the kitchen and helping with nutritional plans

+Helping to clean the orphanage

+Assisting in some hygiene-related activities: hair or nail clipping, washing clothes and sheets, etc.

As well as other activities the project might require at any specific moment in time.

Typical day

Usually volunteers work on weekdays (Monday through Friday) around four to six hours per day.
A typical day in the life of a volunteer at these care centers usually looks like:
8:00-9:00 Having breakfast with host family
9:00-9:15 Going to the care center
9:15-13:00 Volunteer work at the care center
13:00 - 14:00 Lunch with host family
14:00 - 17:00 Volunteer work at the care center
17:00 - 19:00 Free time the volunteer may use as they prefer
19:00 Dinner with host family

Notice that every day you will have some free time, which means that you can immerse yourself even deeper in the very rich cultural heritage Nepal has by visiting landmarks or attending cultural events.
