We started building up a primary school from scratch because there is none around in the radius of 7 kilometers.  This means the children had to walk for 14 kilometers back and forth under the scorching heat without shoes. It was  too stressful and discouraging to acquire education in this area. As a result, there is high rates of early marriages to older men and pregnancies for young girls and the vicious cycle continues. The illiteracy levels are high and the area is underdeveloped with no basic facilities in the vicinity.

The is school started running in July 2021 and has a current enrollment of 140 pupils; grade 1-4 respectively.  We are almost completing the 6th classroom, kitchen and dining area.  This social enterprise is slowly but steadily changing the narrative of socio-edu-conomics perception in this area in the grand scale of things. Making education accessible is the greatest achievement in this era and its impact is tangible and intangible.  Schools open up areas through socio-economic activities, information and  knowledge.  Education is an equalizer and a pathway to sustainable development because it is a life-learning institution.

The school is located in the rural  which is about 10 kilometers away from the city where the volunteer house is.  Therefore, there is commuting to and from from Monday to Friday. The mode of transport is mainly motorbikes at a fee of 2.5 euros per day.
