This women's group was founded in 2016 to empower widows and people diagnosed with and HIV/Aids to improve their lives. Becoming a widow is always hard, but to become a widow after a husband dies due to HIV/AIDS creates a very difficult life in Tanzania. The women and their families lose their stable income, which in Tanzania is usually provided by men, as well as also worrying they may lose their home since women move into their husbands house shortly after marriage and are not always accepted by the husbands family. Sometimes women can end up homeless and without any income. This is where this NGO steps in and helps the women to learn new skills to ensure a sustainable source of income. The project aims to mobilise, motivate and advocate for people in vulnerable situations in areas of health, social justice and economic empowerment.
Furthermore
the NGO runs a day care, mainly for the children from the women who
attend the business trainings and English courses.
The project
The NGO runs a variety of programs like training in sustainable horticulture, tailoring, baking, microfinancing and English courses. They need of volunteer who have experiences or an interest in the fields of marketing, business, health education, education for children, entrepreneurial skills, proposal writing and fundraising.
You do not need any previous knowledge but it's important that you are self-driven and open-minded to find new ways to help and improve the situation of the women. To help the continuing of the foundation's work, donations and fundraisers are always welcomed.
