About the program

Our partner schools are located in a rural region of Ghana. There is a shortage of teachers in many schools. The classes are often very large (> 40 pupils). Many students don't get the attention and support which are necessary. Initially, the volunteers support the teachers with their work. After some time to get used to everything, school lessons can be created. In general, the subjects "English", "Mathematics" and "General Natural Sciences" are taught by the volunteers. However, exact details can be discussed with those responsible. Through the support of the volunteers, the teacher are relieved and the pupils get more attention. In addition, the volunteers should help to identify gifted children so that You4Ghana can support them financially if necessary. Our volunteers are not restricted to one project. If you want to experience different types of work  and get diverse impressions, you are welcome to work in more than one project.

Free-time activities

Our accommodations are located in the beautiful village of Obomeng. It is part of the Kwahu Highlands in the Eastern part of the country. Since its location is high above sea level, it offers a very pleasant climate for Europeans. During your stay you will be staying either in our volunteer house or with a host family. The Kwahu Highlands offer plenty of opportunities for day trips. At nearby Lake Volta you can take a boat trip or go swimming. Diverse hiking trails to the peaks of the mountains offer wonderful views over the valleys and the Ghanaian jungle. At the markets in the larger villages, many exciting things can be purchased, and during the rainy season, the numerous waterfalls offer an alternative shower. At Easter, people from all over Ghana come to Kwahu to celebrate the biggest festival of the country. Nothing compares to this crazy event! Anyone planning on coming to Ghana around this time should not miss the Easter celebration.

About the project

You4Ghana offers socially committed people the opportunity to participate in volunteer projects in Ghana, while educating them about the Ghanaian culture and lifestyle.

Meet your organization

Welcome to You4Ghana! We are happy you found your way to our page. We are offering socially committed people the opportunity to participate in volunteer projects in Ghana, while educating them about the Ghanaian culture and lifestyle.

According to our motto "Work & Grow", our aim is the long-term improvement of the quality of life of the people in our projects. We specifically focus on supplying people with clean drinking water, the construction of sanitation facilities, supporting the education sector, as well as working with children. At the same time it is important to us to create a dialogue between the volunteers and the residents. By working together in projects, both sides have a lot to learn from each other. Those who approach these people with respect will gain insight into a whole new world.

We own a volunteer house in which up to 20 volunteers can live together. For those who want to experience the Ghanaian culture and everyday life even more, we also offer accommodation in host families. Whatever you decide, one thing is certain: anyone who undertakes this journey with an open and tolerance attitude will have an unforgettable time and experience incredible things.
