It is still true even in a developed country like Spain. Spanish children have access to school, but they lack support to continue their education and to follow their professional dreams. Our volunteers help different NGOs promoting several and diversified extra-curricular educational initiatives for underprivileged children and teenagers. The tasks of the volunteers can be designing and implementing completely new extra-curricular activities, support existing ones, teach a newsport, culture, language, instrument, game, arts and crafts oranything else the volunteer is good at.
After the initial orientation day, you will have a morning, afternoon or evening shift at the Youth Support placement and will work for approximately 3 to 5 hours per day.
A typical schedule is as follows:
07:00 - 10:00 a.m. : Breakfast at the volunteer accommodation
10:00 a.m. : (1) Travel to the Youth Support place to join the local staff and begin work on your project with children or
(2) Explore the city, relax, attend Spanish language lessons or enroll other activities if you have an afternoon project.
01:30 p.m. : Lunch is served at the accommodation. In the morning you can grab a “packed lunch” to have in the city or at your placement.
02:00 - 07:00 p.m. : (1) Travel to the Youth Support place to join the local staff and begin work on your project with children or
(2) Explore the city, relax, attend Spanish language lessons or enroll other activities if you have a morning project.
08:00 - 10:00 p.m. : Dinner at the accommodation. After dinner you will have the remainder of the evening free to relax and use as you wish.

You will stay accommodated in a social hostel with a meaningful social and environmental mission. The Hostel has the capacity to accommodate up to 200 conscious travelers who want to visit Barcelona in a responsible way.
There are various common areas such as dining room, living room, room balconies, outside areas surrounded by nature and a pool to refresh in the summer.
The hostel is in a neighborhood where you can find everything you need: local coffee shops, supermarkets, ATMs, hospital, police and most utilities you will need just around the corner. The Hostel is 5 minutes walking from the metro stop and has a few buses running by that can bring you to the city center. The airport is just 15 minutes away by public transportation.
But what is really unique about it is its social and sustainable concept. The hostel is actually a social business for a non-profit ran in the same building. The non-profit develops a wide range of programs, campaigns and activities for children and youth, their families and third sector organizations. The hostel also has a sustainability and accessibility commitment reflected on measures such as renewable energy production, selective waste collection, etc.
We will provide breakfast, lunch and dinner at the hostel everyday. The hostel restaurant offers meals with fresh local ingredients everyday for all volunteers in a very Spanish style and they are prepared to accommodate most diet restrictions such as vegan and vegetarians, gluten-free and lactose intolerant.
Our programs usually start on Monday's of each week. Volunteers can arrive on the weekend preceding the introduction day.
