Work in preservation and protection programs of marine wildlife in the coast of Guatemala. This volunteer program is especially suitable for:
Age 18+
Solteros y solteras

Marine wildlife is constantly under threat from pollution, poaching, and habitat loss. As a volunteer in the Turtle conservation project, you will be working to protect marine wildlife alongside experienced staff by diminishing the number of turtle eggs that are poached.

Help us to protect the Leatherback, Olive Ridley, and Green sea turtles who play an important role in the ocean’s ecosystem. You will be working in a turtle conversation site and working in a hatchery along the beach where collected eggs are reburied and allowed to hatch under protection. The nesting season runs from June through December, but peaks in August and September. The hatchery releases around 5,000 turtles into the sea every year.

Volunteers working in the project in Guatemala will be mostly working in turtle preservation aimed at growing the numbers of turtles each season. Volunteers help in hatcheries, turtle release, monitoring, beach patrols, and project support.

Who is this program better for?

Volunteers that are passionate about marine wildlife, who don’t mind getting their hands dirty, are proactive and don’t mind odd work hours.

Typical day

Working hours are usually 6 hours per day, Monday through Thursday. The project will provide you any equipment that you need. You will be working with the personel on the project
