    À propos du programme

You will assist with the day to life and work of Norwegian Artic horse ranch. As a volunteer your main responsibility will be to take care of the well being of the animals of the ranch.

Dive into the magic of the Northern lights, learn about local wildlife and bond with fellow volunteers over campfires and hot coca. Whether you’re mucking stalls or leading sleigh ride, it’s a hands-on way to connect with nature and gain equestrian skills. Volunteer for a minimum of 2 weeks and a maximum of 12 weeks, leaving with memories of adventure, warmth and untamed beauty of a land where fjords meet silence. A journey worth chasing where every moment feels like a breath of the Nordic soul.

You will assist with the day to life and work of Norwegian Artic horse ranch

You will be involved with many different tasks including:

    • Grooming,
    • Tacking up
    • Clipping, plaiting
    • Mucking out
    • Feeding
    • Generally looking after horses and yard maintenance.
    • Riding, exercising
Keep in mind that tasks will vary by season and partly will also depend on your experience. For this reason we will have you fill out a horse riding questionnaire.

Tucked along the banks of the wide Alta River, lies a family-run horse ranch where the rhythms of rural life blend seamlessly with the wild beauty of northern Norway. The farm sits in a quiet, open landscape where the horizon stretches wide, and tundra, forest, and river meet under big skies.

The Ranch itself began life in the late 1800s, when it stood at the edge of raw wilderness. Today it still retains that sense of solitude and space, with horses grazing nearby, birds calling overhead, and paths winding out into quiet woods. It’s the kind of place where the sound of hooves on forest trails and the hush of snow-laden branches become part of your day, and where sitting around a fire with the smell of coffee and cinnamon buns feels as natural as breathing.

Under the care of the family, the ranch invites visitors into this way of life whether you’re exploring snowy trails on horseback, gliding through the countryside in a sleigh, or watching the northern lights dance overhead in winter. There’s a genuine warmth here that comes from deep connection to the land and to the animals that have made it their home, and it’s exactly this blend of Arctic wilderness and hospitable farm life that gives the area its unforgettable character.

    Activités de loisirs

The Artic regions of Norway are a dream come through for nature lovers and for those who love to be very active outdoors. From dogsledding to whale watching and from hiking to enjoying culture & food.

Alta sits at the edge of Norway’s far north, where wide skies, open tundra, and the Alta River shape everyday life. The town feels quietly resilient, grounded in nature and Arctic rhythms. In summer, the midnight sun stretches days endlessly, lighting up riverbanks and mountain plateaus, while in winter darkness brings stillness, snow, and some of the best chances to see the northern lights.

The landscape around Alta is vast and varied: forests give way to open plateaus, fjords cut into the coastline, and the river winds steadily toward the sea. Outdoor life is central here:  fishing, hiking, skiing, and simple time spent outside are part of the local culture rather than special occasions. History is woven into the land as well, from ancient rock carvings along the fjord to traces of Sámi culture that continue to shape the region’s identity.
