About the Program

Under this project our prime focus is on providing and supporting the population which lives in rural and slums in Jaipur. We have a mobile van which everyday runs in rurals & slums part of Jaipur. The mobile van, in the form of a well-equipped clinic, is reaching directly to the target population to support and provide them with counseling, health and medical services. The clinic reassures them that they are not alone in this world, strengthens their self-confidence and shows that somebody is there to care for, love and support them.

As a medical volunteer your role will be mainly observational. If you have no experience doctors will show you all they can and introduce you to many different cases. If you come with a medical background, you will be given more responsibility and the potential to get more hands-on work. In our medical van there is Doctor, Nurse, Compounder, Counselor , Receptionist & local volunteer which generally provide free health check-up, treatment of general sickness, STI Treatment & HIV/AIDS Counseling and Education Services. This service is generally for the children or people which are not able to afford medicine, doctor fees, not aware by the diseases and come from BPL (below poverty line).

Why it is important

Most of the time, street children are over-exploited and forced into jobs where they have to work continuously even during sickness. The hazardous and unprotected environment of these street children leads to various health problems such as tuberculosis, asthma, hepatitis, jaundice, malaria, respiratory tract infections, sexually transmitted infections and HIV/AIDS etc. This problem is further aggravated by poor delivery of and access to health services. Their lower awareness and literacy levels also prevent them from finding such services. Mobile Clinic was planned to help in these areas.

Since this clinic is mobile, various support and services will be provided on the doorstep and at the convenience of the target population. On a daily basis it goes to rural/slums/backward areas. These places have been identified on the basis of survey and requirements of the street children.

Role of the Volunteer

This project works everyday Monday to Friday for 4 hours in afternoon. You will be going in our Mobile Van  ( BUS ) with our team in rural/slum areas. Helping to look after all the children, people coming to get treatment, diagnosis their problem/disease, provide them medicine, health check-up, general health treatment, counselling and run awareness raising activities. Providing counselling services to our target population for changing their behavior towards SAFE SEX & STOP HIV/AIDS.

Project Location & Daily transport Facility

We provide accommodation to participants at Indian Host Family  in Jaipur. Our project locations is just 15 to 20 mins of tuk-tuk ride from your accommodation. It is in the main Jaipur. Everyday the project taxi come to pick you and once you finish the program it will drop you back at your place.

Who we are?

Volunteering With India is a NGO Non-Profit Goverment Organization which is registered under Rajasthan, Indian Society Registration act 1958. VWI offers a unique combination of volunteering projects and action-packed adventure travel in a fun, safe, educational, and well-organized environment. Our main goal is to deal with problems concerning underprivileged women, orphanages, child care, work in rural areas, health programs for sick, dying & disabled people, theater workshops & elephant care.

We have a strong team of coordinators who run successful and effective volunteering programs. We work directly with local schools, people that live in rural areas, and orphanages. We make sure that each of our volunteering programs meets the high standard as expected and deserved by our volunteers. Safety is high on our priority list and we always make sure that you feel safe in all our placements.

Helping to Non-Profit Organisation's

Volunteering With India has as its founders a group of friends. With the help of our team members and volunteers like you we support local NGO's in their work for the development of community; we taught children in rural areas how to use the computers, and even their teachers, because part of them they did not know how to do it. We support working with street children, orphanage and the women empowerment movement. We also involved with aspects like theater education to school children and we were amazed in seeing the kids do so well in the drama we put in play. The Organization also deals with animal care centers.

All this work led to our desire to build an organization that can handle all this problems. Currently the organization is running successful volunteering programs in the city of Jaipur and in the rural areas that surround it. Our work is about helping children stay in school and give them a better education, and develop their talents, about helping women become more independent and be aware about their rights, about raising awareness about animal rights. We hope our work will help develop a more powerful, educated and aware society.

We welcome every person that wants to help us continue our work in the Indian society. Every help is needed and we hold great respect for every individual that wants to work in a volunteering program. The satisfaction that a person has in working for the benefit of humanity is the greatest one can hold.

Volunteer in India Mission

Our Mission is to create a worldwide network of volunteers that can help children in rural areas, the women empowerment movement in India, children that live in orphanages, the sick and disabled and animals. Our Aim will be to remove poverty and illiteracy from the country Volunteer in India with us! We invite you to become a life time member of VWI for free after you finish your volunteer work with us. We hope that you share your experiences with friends and family, and you encourage them to join the adventure of a life time Volunteering in India.

Where do we work?

Presently we are working in the main local city area Jaipur and in its surroundings. Jaipur is the capital city of Desert state called Rajasthan. It’s is also know as Pink City. The city has maintained its traditions, culture and heritage for nearly three centuries of its existence. Neither very low temperature during cold winter months nor the scorching heat in the hottest summer months. Jaipur comes in the part of Northern India. Around 4.5 million people reside in Jaipur.

Who are we looking for?

The volunteers can be from all over the world. There is no any age limit to join the volunteer program. Participants main characteristic is the willingness to help. Our volunteers give their time and money to conserve and protect the environment, uplift and build positive communities, teach children, and promote health, education, and ecological awareness in India.

Why do I have to pay for my volunteering experience?

We do not have any financial support or funding of any kind, so volunteers have to fund their projects themselves. The money volunteers pay, allow us to provide them with all the support and services. Volunteers will work in places where they are really needed. Also our partners are non-profits organizations doing meaningful, much-needed work in their local communities in India; in addition, the amount of volunteer fees are used as a donation to these organizations to keep the projects running. The donations are used for the facilities which the communities need. The donations go to help schools that are in needed, and to other materials that the community requires, like computers, study materials, clothe, play materials, and food. The community people and staff are also supported by this donation.

Is it safe?

India is a very safe country. Indians are very friendly with foreigners, and treat them with respect. Many people will greet you throughout India with the phrase "Namaste" (hello); the most commonly spoken local language is Hindi.

Do I need a visa?

India has its own visa policies, and these policies vary according to the nationality of the visitor. For most countries you can get a tourist visa with little or no problem. You can apply with Tourist Visa and join our programs. There is a On Arrival Visa Facility also available at the Airports in India which you can get it for 30 days. We recommend checking online, or contact with the nearest Indian consulate for more information.
