Volunteer don't need any TEFL qualification or teaching experience to participate in this program. English teaching volunteers in India make learning English fun and inspire students to reach their full potential. Work in local schools at primary and secondary level, communities of Dharamsala or provide private tuition to students whose families cannot afford quality education & make a vital contribution to the education system in India and make a real difference in the lives of children.
Village schools have small class numbers with students who are keen to learn. The children value class time with fluent English speakers and it gives them the opportunity to improve and practice English speaking, listening, reading and writing skills.
For volunteers teaching English, it is not necessary to have an in-depth knowledge of English grammar, and sometimes the secret of teaching is to appear to have known all your life what you just learnt that morning!
For those volunteers with a professional interest in teaching this is a
fantastic opportunity to broaden your skills in a new environment. For
those without prior experience it will be a learning journey and a rewarding
experience working with the children of Dharamsala. English teaching materials are available at the volunteer
house and volunteers are free to bring along their own resources.
Volunteers typically work from Monday to Friday for a total of four to five hours per day, on two different placements.Volunteers work two hours in the morning at one placement and two hours after lunch at another placement. You will have time for taking breaks in between for lunch, chai and lesson preparation at the iSpiice volunteer house.
