Combine your passion for animals and desire to give back to society by improving the unfortunate situation of abandoned street animals in Greece. During this volunteer program, you can help to look for a new, safe and beautiful home for stray dogs.

About the Project

The program is managed by a local in Greece at the beautiful Crete Island, that aims to improve the situation of the animals living on the streets. Due to the amount of work that it takes to keep the program running, the help provided by volunteers is always greatly appreciated. Animals are only mediated when a family has the correct surrounding for a dog.

What you can expect

Before starting your volunteer work project, you will receive an orientation from our local staff. The local staff is run by English speaking people. They are very happy to welcome volunteers from all over the world. Usually you will be in the program with other volunteers. The project is about  minutes by bus.

Journée typique

You will help from 6 am (during high season and climate) or 8/9 am (low season) till 2 pm or you can do the afternoon shift. Your schedule is flexible, depending on the volunteers. Like this, you will have time to enjoy your afternoon at the beach.

You will help from 6 am (during high season and climate) or 8/9 am (low season) till 2 pm or you can do the afternoon shift. Your schedule is flexible, depending on the volunteers. Like this, you will have time to enjoy your afternoon at the beach.

This program allows you to rescue and work with abandoned cats and dogs while helping them to find a new home. Daily tasks may include: 

  • Feeding and walking the animals 
  • Cleaning cages and equipment
  • Go in the garden with the dogs
  • Drug administration and support with sterilization procedures
  • Helping with rescue operations where animals are brought in from the street 
  • Food distribution for animals that live on the street 
You are helping 5 days a week. Please stay flexible with your days off.

During your free time you can spend time at the beach. Enjoy activities like swimming, relaxing on the beach, and so on. Additionally, Greece has a lot of historic places to see.
When you are close to the beach people sell souvenirs and other cities are easy to reach. You can go to other islands

Âge minimum: 18 ans

Pour participer à ce programme tu dois avoir au moins 18 ans quand le programme commence. Il peut y avoir des exceptions si tu peux montrer la permission de ton tuteur légal ou si tu es accompagné(e) par l'un de tes parents.

Nous avons besoin de ton aide pour lundi, mardi, mercredi, jeudi, vendredi, samedi et dimanche de 07:00 - 15:00

Logement

Your accommodation will be in a fully equipped apartment. Laundry services can be used there for an extra fee. The accommodation is about 10-20 minutes from the shelter. All accommodations are close to the center and the ocean. You will stay in double bed apartment.

Jamso Trainee startet in December 2012 helping in communities in Costa Rica. Costa Rica is since now the county with the most interns, volunteers and travelers. 

Since 2013 Jamso Trainee started working with partners in Ecuador, Peru, South Afrika.

2015 we begin working with our partner Bali and Thailand.

Visiting projects and getting more relationshsips with local charities is a goal of each year. Jamso Trainee don´t increase too fast, because for us it is very important to hold long contacts and stay in a good communication with volunteers and projects.
