À propos du programme

Summary
Art in Tanzania is a self-sustainable non-profit charity NGO. We earn our funds from safari tour operations, movie and music production, and solar-powered and other environmentally friendly product sales. The daily management of NGO operations is also part of the duties.

Details
Our community-based programs are designed to empower the local communities and individual people. Our volunteers experience being immersed in the daily life in Tanzania while also having the opportunity to witness the growth of one of the fastest-growing economies in Africa.

Our business and marketing programs are focused on training community entrepreneurship skills. We also focus on marketing volunteering placements, internships, safaris, tours, and our music. Our new sales products are solar-powered gadgets, composting dry toilets, and water purification systems.

Our management tasks include NGO management assistance and development, staff training for new skills, and raising awareness about issues such as sustainability.

We are developing online and mobile platforms to reach children in rural Tanzania. We use our social media pages for advocacy work, and our Facebook pages have more than 50K followers. Interns work in a team of international and Tanzanian multi-professional students. We encourage innovation in the program approach. Network development is highlighted, as in Africa, the capacities are limited, and being able to work together helps.

Academic-level team leaders are daily supervising your volunteer placement. We monitor your work with a weekly plan and report system to ensure you proceed well in your study program.

The volunteering outcome is to learn to use and to get experience to implement your education in developing country conditions with limited capacitation. Also, to better understand the opportunities in a fast-growing economy.

Volunteers work in teams of international students and volunteer professionals. We encourage innovation in the program approach. Work hours are 6-8 hours per day, Monday through Friday.

Your placement is tailored according to your background, experience, and interests to empower our daily work with the communities. Your program can be from 2 weeks up to 12 months. You can also conduct a thesis and related tasks. The typical daily tasks include practical fieldwork, planning, reporting, and visibility.

The start and end dates are flexible and can also accommodate other travel arrangements in Tanzania. International flights, student permits, accommodation, and meals are personal costs.

You and your visiting friends can enjoy cheaply sustainable tourism, safaris, and local tour options.

To book you in and open your account, we need your tentative arrival and departure dates that can be adjusted.

Journée typique

Standard working hours are from AM 9 to PM 1630, but we may have seminars and meetings in the evening times and at weekends. The nature of work is to follow the time the target groups are free.

The participant will develop human rights materials to study the present legislation and changes in the bill. Some rights issues, such as LGTB rights, are sensitive in Africa and need to be adjourned accordingly.

Much of the work is to advocate how to implement the present human rights laws. The public in common does not necessarily know their rights, and we support vulnerable groups such as women, children, and disabled people. You will use existing tool kits for seminars, develop them, and create new ones.

Much time will be used for visibility. For example, Facebook is a great tool to reach Tanzanian people. Art in Tanzania's Facebook page has 38k likes, and we can deliver information to tens of thousands of Tanzanian people.

The actual program is free of cost. You may have local small transfer costs.

Logement

Our eco-compound in Madale Village in the Dar es Salaam area has dorms and single, double, and family rooms. As an eco-compound, we use our own design composting dry toilets; we collect shower water and urine and use it as "grey water" for our extensive garden irrigation. Construction materials include bamboo, recycled bottles, and similar. This compound is located in Madale village, so it is a countryside place and a short distance from the city.

We charge accommodation with breakfast and dinner only.

Aliments & Boissons

We serve breakfast and dinner as accommodation inclusive. Lunches are available at a nominal cost, but you need to book one every morning as many people are not at the compound. We cook and charge only those present and wish to have lunch.

All drinks are personal cost. Drinking water is available everywhere at a low price. We also run a compound bar, so you can easily access drinks and snacks.

Art In Tanzania (AIT) is a non-governmental organization (NGO) registered in Tanzania, Zanzibar, and Finland. The organization launched in 2001, supporting local artists who did not have the resources to develop their talents. Since then, the organization has grown and runs more than 300 volunteer and internship placements in Tanzania, including a record label called Mzuka Records and Fiesta Magazine, a yearly magazine targeting Tanzanian youth.

Art In Tanzania welcomes volunteers and interns to participate in community projects and organizes adventure programs such as safarishistorical tours and climbs to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro! Alums, volunteers, interns and their families can participate in our safari and tourism programs. When you book your trip through AIT, you will have the experience of a lifetime while supporting the local Tanzania community. Art In Tanzania is part of the Children's Agenda Tanzania Program, and volunteers and interns are needed to assist us in the program management and implementation with partners such as UNICEF, Save the Children, and SOS International, among others.

AIT alums include volunteers and interns from all over the world. Volunteer and intern projects are in the fields of Education (all levels), Social Work, Medical and health practice, Social Media, Arts and music, Sports, and HIV/AIDS Awareness.

Art In Tanzania volunteers and interns are in Dar es Salaam, Moshi in Kilimanjaro and Zanzibar. There are around 600 to 1,000 volunteers and interns arriving annually. AIT's support team includes 70 staff members, expatriates, and local officials.

2020 at Support Women Initiatives

I recently came back from Tanzania with a friend of mine, we went to volunteer for 2 weeks on the women empowerment programme hosted by Art in Tanzania. I'd like to suggest you remove Art in Tanzania from this platform. All the money that we paid do not go towards the compound or the programmes. ..
