This is a short-term volunteering opportunity at our primate sanctuary with a maximum stay of one year. You will assist in all duties and take care of our primates.

If you are passionate about animals, especially monkeys
and want to make a difference in their lives, then volunteering at
International Primate Rescue is for you. The rewards and benefits are
two-fold, we give you an experience of a lifetime and you assist us
with the daily care of the animals.
As long as you are at least 18 years old you are welcome. It doesn’t matter if you are looking for work experience, a student on a gap year, want a break from your office job, are retired, or you just want to get away from it all for a while. Join us and experience a unique once in a lifetime opportunity!
Our volunteer program will give you a fascinating wildlife experience whilst you learn about primate behaviour and animal care. You will get hands on experience with all the different species of primates at the sanctuary. We currently have Capuchins, Macaques, Squirrel monkeys, Mona monkeys, Tamarins, Marmosets and Grey Mouse lemurs. But as cute as they are you also need to be prepared to get down and dirty, as along with the pleasure of interacting with our animals, their enclosures also need cleaning and maintaining!
During your time with us you will get to know our staff and work side by side with them. More importantly, you will get to know our monkeys and all their different personalities. It is our hope that when you leave us you have made lifelong friends with our staff as well as your fellow volunteers, and that you walk away with the fantastic memories of an unforgettable experience!!!

You will be responsible for all aspects of primate care as outlined below:
• Food preparation and feeding
• Distributing supplements, primate pellets and conducting health checks on the primates
• Cleaning and maintaining the enclosures
• Enrichment
• Observations and monitoring
• Recording behaviours and concerns in the daily observation book
Vrijetijdsactiviteiten
Bosveld tours can organise group trips to places such as Kruger National Park, Horseback Safaris, lion and Rhino park, Wonder Caves, Apartheid museum and many more. There is a local supermarket and pizza take away.

Voorwaarden
Om deel te nemen aan het programma dien je tenminste 18 jaar oud te zijn op de startdatum van het programma. Er kunnen uitzonderingen gemaakt worden indien je een bewijs van toestemming kan aantonen van uw wettelijke voogd(en) of samen met je ouders deelneemt.
Je dient over volgende taalkennis te beschikken Engels (basis niveau)
Geen beperkingen. Helpende handen van over de hele wereld zijn welkom.

If you have asked us to arrange an airport pick up, our driver will meet you at Johannesburg airport. The trip to the sanctuary takes about 45 min to an hour. If you arrive during the day, our driver will take you food shopping on the way.
When you arrive you will see that your accommodation is right in the middle of the sanctuary, so we can give you a tour straight away and introduce you to all the monkeys. Or if you are too tired you can relax and shower and we will show you around later. The rest of the day you can relax and unpack or get to know the monkeys.
The following morning work will start at 9:00 and one of our staff will take you under their wing.
The airport pick-up will be paid seperately.
Dorm rooms are very basic and can accommodate a maximum of 14 people in one dorm.
Beds are bunk beds and we will provide sheets, pillow and duvet.
There are 2 indoor toilets and 1 shower, with a further (enclosed) shower and toilet on the grounds outside, we also provide towels for your use.
We have a volunteer kitchen for your use and groups tend to go on shopping trips every week or so to buy food.
Onze excuses, geen toegang op de project site
Visum, vluchten, reisverzekering en vaccinaties zijn NIET inbegrepen in de programmakosten.
Afhaling van de luchthaven is ook niet inbegrepen in de programmakosten.
Eten, tussendoortjes en drankjes zijn bijkomende kosten.
De dichtste luchthaven is O.R. Tambo International Airport (JNB) in Johannesburg. We assisteren u met het vinden van goedkope vluchten naar Zuid-Afrika.
Naar het buitenland reizen is een avontuur en het is best om goed voorbereid te zijn. Plots ziek worden of gewond raken, annulaties of diefstal - een reisverzekering voor Zuid-Afrika biedt zekerheid en is een meerwaarde.
Als je de intentie hebt om als vrijwilliger aan de slag te gaan in Zuid-Afrika dien je eerst medisch advies in te winnen alvorens je eropuit trekt. Kijk de benodigde vaccinaties na voor Zuid-Afrika.

International Primate Rescue
zal je op de hoogte houden over de finale kostprijs gedurende uw aanmeldprocedure.
De waarborg dient om je plek als vrijwilliger te verzekeren. Betalingen worden door PayPal behandeld, onze betrouwbare betalingsprovider. Indien je niet over een PayPal account beschikt, kan je ook met een credit kaart betalen.
Uw finale betaling zal worden goedgekeurd door International Primate Rescue gedurende de aanmeld procedure. Veel voorkomende oplossingen zijn een banktransfer of contante betaling op de projectsite.
