About 11 percent of Nepalese practice Buddhism and are mainly from Tibeto-Burman ethnic groups like Sherpas, Tamang's and Bhotia people from the mountain areas along the border with Tibet.

Kathmandu is the city of temple and monastery, many young kids from all around the country makes to Kathmandu in order to get a Buddhist education eventually being a monk or nun, specially one kid from each family is assumes to go to monastery to get the education which is a general practice and part of their religion. 

Childrens in sacred monastery study in the monastic disciplines where they get the first class Buddhist teaching from the senior Lamas, Khenpo , whereas they seriously lack the competent English tutor or math's , geography or whatever beside the Buddhist teaching.

Our volunteering programme entitled enrich your life with Good karma aims to fulfill this gap, or at least supports as supplement in their journey of Buddhism learning where monks and nuns can learn the basic English writing and speaking from our Volunteers. Geography or linguistic things that can be crucial for them in long run to convey the teaching of Buddhism to other peoples and community. This is a way to introduce them with English language which can be practical for them in long run. 

Besides teaching to monks and nuns, volunteers can also learn many things like meditations, buddhas philosophy, yoga's, tantra and mantra, and highly utilize their stay with give and take at the same time. During your stay, volunteers will practice commune food and shelter as part of the stay  in monastery and nunnery.

Dagelijkse activiteiten

Early Morning the day begins with breakfast and teaching for 4 hours after it. In the mid-day, snacks will be given to the volunteers and again another final part of the teaching happens which is again 4 hours. But a volunteer can teach as per their interest 2-4 periods of 45 minutes.

Early Morning the day begins with breakfast and teaching for 4 hours after it. In the mid-day, snacks will be given to the volunteers and again another final part of the teaching happens which is again 4 hours. But a volunteer can teach as per their interest 2-4 periods of 45 minutes. 

Afternoons are a time for sports or doing the extra things, walking around etc. Since the programme is located mostly in city area, one can also visit the local market or landmarks. Sometime in the evening night, there will be dinner and some prayers and chanting's before going to bed.

Generally this will be the schedules
  • 6-7 AM wake up
  • 8 Yoga, Meditations sessions
  • 9 AM Breakfast
  • 10 AM Join teaching job 
  • 1 PM Lunch/ snacks break
  • 3-4 PM Finished with school and free time
  • 5-6 Play time with nun and monks 
  • 7-8 private reading time, television, etc.
  • 8:30 Dinner 
  • 9 PM Bedtime

Good karma foundation was founded after the Nepal Earthquake of April 2015, the biggest disaster of our history. The Foundation helps to rebuild and empower locals.

The Good karma foundation was founded after the Nepal Earthquake of April 2015, the biggest disaster of our history. The Foundation helped in the huge rebuilding and reconstruction work, which captivated our volunteers from worldwide destinations. This year has been one of the most trying in Nepalese history. Our plan is to go ahead with as much work as we can fund to make Nepal a better place to live in guided by our best idea as, our altruistic philosophy, our resources and technology.

There are many national and international, non-governmental organizations in Nepal and Good Karma is trying to be an effective one. Good Karma wants to bring practical results from its work and if you are interested in these practical results you can be part of our foundation. The Good Karma Foundation will basically work with help of volunteers worldwide who want to rebuild and help Nepal.

Most of the Institutions are currently focusing on areas like Kathmandu, Pokhara and Chitwan but our goal is to cover outlaying areas of Nepal, possibly in all 75 districts of our country. The nice part of our projects is we want to touch all the district of country, not only focusing on the easy areas.

Our focus will be on issues of Health and Education which can help Nepal to make a better place for tomorrow. We also organize training and social awareness in the areas respectively. Most of the population of the country live in the urban and mountain area and lack basic medical care.

If you are interested, please send us your full information and in which district you would like to volunteer. We can also help you to choose the area of volunteering. Even if you are in short time we can recommend closer areas from the urban center. if you are intending to do long term volunteering, we recommend to focusing on marginal areas of the country.
