ABOUT PARTNERS FOR CONSERVATION
Partners For Conservation is a Rwandan non-profit organization founded in 2014. Partners For Conservation is involved in three main programmes: (1) Education and research, information collection and sharing, (2) Capacity building and project management, (3) Socio-cultural and economic development. In less than a year, Partners For Conservation has developed a strong, honest and trusted partnership between decision makers, supporters and beneficiaries, which is critical to ensure a successful intervention.
PARTNERS FOR CONSERVATION APPROACH
Partners For Conservation believes in the innate capabilities of every human being biodiversity promotion, protection and conservation through an inclusive partnership to ensure a biodiversity legacy. This logic drives a feeling of responsibility and ownership. For Partners For Conservation, the last beneficiary is the backbone of any success henceforth this platform where every single contribution is accounted for. Partners For Conservation believes such partnership remains an opportunity for less privileged partners to actively participate in local needs assessment, designing priorities and relevant strategies for implementation. Educated partner is an answer to a multi-facet situation and so education and capacity building drives our intervention.
OUR OBJECTIVES
Partners For Conservation is dedicated to the extension and sharing of opportunities in promotion, protection and conservation of biodiversity through education, research, information collection and sharing, development and cultural activities to allow every society member to enjoy her/his innate gift in daily biodiversity management.
PHILOSOPHY

GOALS
Partners For Conservation aims at preserving a legacy through the promotion, protection and conservation of biodiversity.
Partners For Conservation believes that everyone is born a conservator, and that only good will and means make the difference and aims at serving as the only platform through which; farmers to businessmen, children to adults, illiterates to academicians, poor to wealthy people, volunteers to professionals, interns to researchers contribute to for a just world.
Currently, Partners For Conservation is contributing to the protection and conservation of the mountain gorilla through a holistic intervention axed on Conservation, Research, Education and Development activities to promote the socio-economic integration of poor, vulnerable and marginalized people surrounding the gorilla habitat.
Mountain gorilla (Gorilla beringei beringei) is one of the two subspecies of the eastern gorillas. There are two populations. One is found in the Volcanoes mountains of Central Africa within three National Parks: Mgahinga in South-west of Uganda, Volcanoes in North West Rwanda, and Virunga in Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. The other is found in Uganda's Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. According to the most recent census mountain gorillas stands at an estimated 880 individuals: 480 in the Virunga Massif and 400 in Bwindi (2010 gorilla census)
The mountain gorilla remains threatened to extinction and in 2008 they were listed as Critically Endangered on the IUCN Red list and are dependent on conservation efforts to survive. (UCN Red list, 2008) and in 1983 under the UNESCO Man and Biosphere Programme, the Volcanoes National Park was added to the International Network of Biosphere Reserves.
Despite its exceptional biodiversity values, the park is subject to a variety of serious and growing anthropogenic pressures largely related to it being situated in one of the most densely populated parts of Rwanda.
