About the program

The women empowerment program has the aim to teach women to overcome difficult situations by showing them skills through education to improve their quality and of their families´. Volunteers can help better the lifestyle of the Tanzanian women by supporting them and teaching useful manual work skills – such as sewing, crocheting and knitting.

Besides the marketing improvement, there are many inherent life-skills to be taught, such as the importance of team-work, communication and discipline.

As a volunteer in the women empowerment program, you will be working in various areas of the project like:

Education: Volunteers can teach skills that are useful to the women in the project. Common subjects include enlightenment of women  such like prevention & sicknesses like HIV, AIDS. Also it is very important that the women are taught to be how to build an independent life and earn their own Gehalt/Lohn. While the women are doing their manual work, you are able to spend some time with young children and kids.

Manual work: If you love manual work and have a little ability for that, then you can have a positive impact for women. Volunteers at the community program can help improving manual work skills of the women such as sewing, crocheting and knitting. Support is always needed to help them gain confidence in what they are doing.

Marketing: Volunteers can help to market products made by women in the project and to help the project gain more visibility. Help in marketing can be digital or through traditional means.

Improving life-skills bring people together and help to build strong communities. Volunteers will be helping in the organization in all aspects of community; from teaching manual work to women to improve their skills to educating kids/ young people. This project is a good chance for you to improve your skills and ability as well as helping local children and women to develop their talents.

Be prepared to do a little bit of everything! One of our core values is that everything is important. Some days we will be teaching manual work skills – the other day educating kids and doing marketing promotion. The key to keep in mind is that EVERYTHING we do is of great importance. You will work alongside and under the leadership of our coaching sta. One key to your success will be to develop proactive leadership skills. We will schedule out a lot of things with you, but we welcome new ideas!

About the project

Jamso Trainee do help students finding volunteering projects and internships around the world.

Meet your organization

Jamso Trainee has been placing volunteers around the world for over six years. We're passionate about making a difference in developing communities. Cause we are a smaller agency we stay always in a good communication to our volunteers and to the communites. For us it is important to find the right programm for your stay abroad. Don´t travel just like a tourst!

History:

Jamso Trainee startet in December 2012 helping in communities in Costa Rica. Costa Rica is since now the county with the most interns, volunteers and travelers.

Since 2013 Jamso Trainee started working with partners in Ecuador, Peru, South Afrika.

2015 we begin working with our partner Bali and Thailand.

Visiting projects and getting more relationshsips with local charities is a goal of each year. Jamso Trainee don´t increase too fast, because for us it is very important to hold long contacts and stay in a good communication with volunteers and projects.

I loved my time in Santa Barbara in this program. The work was delightful and fulfilling, but it was a private (and bilingual) school, and the children I was teaching weren't the ones who would've needed it the most, I would say. That being said, I feel that I made a significant change and that my ...
