Art in Tanzania is developing young musicians and dancers in Tanzania. We focus on traditional African music with hectic drum rhythms and dancing.  We are looking for western artists to join the program for cultural exchange. We are also developing school music teaching.

The work picture includes working in our Mzuka Records music program, to join band rehearsals, to develop the shows, and to teach music.
At the moment, Tanzanian schools have no music instruction due to lack of resources and funding.  Art in Tanzania trains the artists to be music teachers and introduces music teaching as extra curriculum in schools.

Our New evolving program is Music Therapy as part of Art Therapy approach.
Interns are working in a team of international and Tanzanian multi professional intern teams. We encourage innovation in the program approach.

The working hours are 6-8 hours per day from Monday to Friday. This is ongoing program and we can adjust the starting dates.
Interns work in teams of international students and volunteer professionals. Please contact us for information on customized and personalized programming. Arts in Tanzania's internships, facilities and operations are also accessible for those with disabilities.

This programs helps the Tanzanian government to include some art and music teaching to the school curriculums as it is more or less completely lacking due to the lack of capacities. It also give work for the Tanzanian artist.

Typical day

Music and dance programs includes various activities and your day is a commonly mix of the tasks as below.

Rehearsals. Art in Tanzania is working with top Tanzanian Dance and Music artists. You participate the weekly rehearsals taking place commonly the days when there are no shows booked. So the program is not fixed. Rehearsals take place in various locations depending where the shows will take place and commonly the instruments stored that time. When it is rehearsal work it takes all day as they happen in city area.
Music production is also activity that can happen whensoever there is work even night time. That is the typical life or music artist in Tanzania.

School and other music teaching happens in school hours sometimes after as well if it is an extra curriculum activity So you need to be flexible here as well.

Music as part of Art Therapy takes place commonly at the compound you are living and it is late afternoon program.

Free-time activities

Free time you can enjoy low cost safaris to Serengeti, N'gorongoro Cater and other National parks. You can join our groups climbing Mt Kilimanjaro and move on to relax at Zanzibar beaches.
