Volunteers play an integral role in achieving the goals of this project. Speaking English are getting more and more important due to rising tourist numbers especially on the island.

Your job is going to be as a consultant for the English teachers in the schools: You are going to support them in their subject and if you are very confident with the language and you show dedication, you can also support other teachers in several different subjects. Create small exercises for your students, make them smile while they are learning and think of appreciation in the children’s eyes.
You will assist a local teacher at the class or can also create your own lessons if you feel able to do it. Volunteers are needed from around the world. As long as you have a good English level, we are very happy to get your support for the kids!

Typical day

Every day is special. By working with kids every day is special and different. We would like to help you to get an overview about a typical volunteer day:

  • 7:30/8:00: typical breakfast with the other volunteers
  • taking a bus to go to the project
  • 9:00: starting with your volunteering tasks
  • 1:00 pm: ending volunteering
afternoon: hanging out with other volunteers, doing activities such as sightseeing, shopping, safari, exploring the island and water sports like surfing and many else!

Free-time activities

Besides your time on the project you are able to spend your free-time. You can enjoy activitites like swimming, diving, horseback riding, relaxing on the beach etc. Zanzibar offers many opportunities for surfing, especially for kite-surfing.

At the beach there are many spots for tours on a boat (for example delphin tours) but also spots for exploring the island by itself.
