Who We Are
Atlas Volunteers began as a grassroots organisation in Ghana, founded by a group of international volunteers who met while supporting community projects there. Today, Atlas Volunteers has grown into a UK-registered international volunteer network with programmes across Ghana and with trusted partners in Thailand, Cambodia, South Africa and other emerging destinations. Although our roots are in Ghana, our values remain the same: volunteering by volunteers, for volunteers, with ethical, affordable and meaningful experiences.
What We Do
We coordinate and support a wide range of community-driven projects in education, sports, conservation and community development. Our teams on the ground – in Ghana and in each partner country – work directly with local NGOs, schools and community leaders to deliver programmes that meet real needs and leave lasting benefits.
-
Education – support schools, run English classes, tutoring sessions, reading clubs and vocational training
-
Sports & Youth – coach in football academies, lead physical education and youth clubs
-
Community Development – assist with environmental initiatives, infrastructure support and livelihood training
-
Conservation & Wildlife – join ethical projects protecting endangered species and habitats worldwide, including marine life conservation, elephant care, wildlife rescue and large-scale habitat protection
Where We Work
Our headquarters are in the UK & Ghana, but our heart is in the communities we serve. Atlas Volunteers directly manages and delivers our flagship NGO programmes in Ghana through our own local team. In Thailand, Cambodia, South Africa and other destinations, we collaborate with trusted local partners and coordinators to ensure the same high standards of ethical, community-led volunteering. This approach allows us to combine deep, hands-on involvement in Ghana with a global network of meaningful opportunities.
Our Mission
To make ethical, affordable and impactful volunteering accessible worldwide. We support sustainable, locally-led initiatives that empower communities, improve education, protect the environment and foster cross-cultural understanding. By connecting volunteers with meaningful projects across multiple countries, we aim to leave each place better than we found it while offering an enriching travel experience.
Who We’re Looking For
We welcome volunteers from all over the world who are motivated, adaptable and eager to learn. Whether you’re a student, professional, retiree or simply passionate about making a difference, you’ll find a place in our team. No previous experience is required for most programmes—just an open mind, a willingness to help and respect for the communities you’ll join.
